The Experience
It will be a great comfort to walk in here after a long hike in stunning, rugged countryside. The warm snug has a blazing log fire on chilly days, there are hand-pumped ales to sample and a good wine list from the Maynard family business – their ancestry goes back to the Battle of Agincourt in 1415. You eat well too, in a dining room with those views: everything is freshly prepared from good local ingredients and nearly all dietary needs are met – if not, just ask.
Bedrooms range from cosy to a junior suite and all have a slightly retro feel with an eclectic mix of furnishings and some bold wallpapers. The feel is very comfortable and you’ll find Roberts radios, fresh coffee from Roastology and smart TVs. Wake to a full English, pancakes with seasonal berries, plant-based alternatives.
The star of the show in summer is the magnificent terrace, a real suntrap with live music on Sunday afternoons. You can even get married in style.
