The Experience

Here you have contemporary style in a classic setting with fireplaces, beams and oak panel doors. There’s a huge living area with space for everyone, a nifty kitchen with a dining table and all the bells and whistles you need for cooking – everyone can join in, chatting and chopping. You’re left a welcome basket of local goodies, a free pass to the beach, windbreaks and beach kit. You’ll also find a handy wetsuit rinsing area and an outdoor shower.

When you’re not bathing or getting sandy, you can try your hand on the tennis court or explore the grounds. In front of the south-facing house is a sun terrace which leads to the Italian Garden, filled with shrubs and rose arches. A barbecue here in the evening will be sublime, play a game of croquet or watch the sun set from the Lundy Terrace. Children will find woodlands to roam or a games room for wet weather.

Bedrooms are large, light and comfortable, one en suite and the others sharing the main bathroom.

Reviews

You could really be a Lord of the Manor in this apartment. Historic and spacious yet with a contemporary feel. Gorgeous mullioned windows to look out of over fields towards Hartland Point. Dramatic in every sense yet with a homely feel!

Location

The neighbourhood

Eat well at New Coast Kitchen or Roku in Croyde – both award-winning. The closest pubs are the Kings Arms and The Rock Inn, about a mile away. Join the Coast Path and puff up and down for miles watching fabulous sea views. It's just a mile to historic Georgeham which has a village store and a farm shop with an honesty box. Fun to choose some local produce and bring it back to barbecue. Sunsets are miraculous.

Local points of interest from Pickwell Manor

  • We are lucky enough to be only a 5-min (depending on traffic) drive from Putsbourgh beach. This amazing sandy beach stretches 2.5 miles to Woolacombe beach. These & nearby Croyde beach are a must visit.
  • Another nearby beach is Lee bay. This is a great one for rock pools and at low tide you can take the smugglers path through the rocks to a hidden sandy beach. As this beach is not golden yellow sand and hidden away it rarely gets busy.
  • We are just off the coastal path, so loads of amazing walks along cliffs and beaches.
  • Activities on our doorstep: Surfing, Stand Up Paddleboarding, wild swimming, coasteering and so much more...
  • You are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out. We have two great pubs in the village that do superb food. Or a more alfresco style option is the amazing Sri Lankan curry at nearby Barricane beach.

Introducing

Pickwell Manor

Two families bought Pickwell Manor in 2007. They've made major changes, creating 10 apartments and four treehouses. It's a fine example of using renewable energy for all aspects of the business. The Pickwell Foundation was set up to channel profits into charitable causes.
