The
Experience

This is a friendly place where you’ll feel at home – sit and chat with Penny and Paul at the kitchen table, read by the big inglenook in your own sitting room, enjoy tea and home-baked cake when you arrive. Aga-cooked breakfasts are served in the sitting room: a delicious tableful of home-pressed apple juice, eggs from the hens, homemade jams, seasonal fruit salad, local sausages and bacon – and bread from their daughter’s bakery in Okehampton.

Step up the spiral stone stairs to your large bedroom; the bed is beautifully dressed and there are always vases of Penny’s flowers as well as a tea tray with homemade shortbread and fruit. If you have extra family or friends, you can spill over into two further rooms.

Drive to Dartmoor National Park in a few minutes – there’s a lovely two-hour walk in ancient Fingle Woods in Teign Valley, on the edge of the park. Have a day out on the Devon coast. Marvel at the star-studded night skies.

Lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Rarely does a B&B have a bed as large or as comfortable as ours. Very clean. Great breakfast! We enjoyed being able to sit downstairs alone by the fire- so much so we stayed in with sandwiches for dinner! You could describe Brook Farmhouse as self catering minus the cooking facilities. We loved being the only ones at breakfast. Be prepared to drive to tourist spots but not too far. Chagford & Castle Drogo for example. Very close to A30. Definitely would like to return. Suggestion - BramleyProducts in the bathroom?

Great stay at this B & B. Large bedroom, comfy bed, and our own lounge with cosy log fire. Fantastic breakfast with home made apple juice and eggs from the hens. Penny is a marvellous host, and couldn't do more to make us welcome. Will certainly recommend to our friends and family.

Ann, Salisbury

Wonderful B&B with a brilliant host. Stunning bedroom with very comfy bed. Great breakfast. All in a beautiful location off the beaten track, and yet within easy reach of several nice pubs and a short drive to Exeter. Oh, and the roaring fire was the icing on the cake!

Paul & tamsin, Cornwall

PERFECT as always. See you next year x

Michelle, Welling

We really recommend this lovely bed and breakfast. Not only is the place very attractive and comfortable but Penny is an excellent host being very accommodating, friendly and her attention to detail is amazing. This place is not to be missed.

What a wonderfully warm welcome we had from Penny and Paul; tea and home made biscuits in front of ta roaring fire in the comfortable private sitting room! The bedroom was spacious and extremely comfortable, fresh flowers and Penny's artistic touches made it very special. Brook House nestles in a beautiful, peaceful valley - perfect for a little getaway!.(the single track lane down to the cottage was a little daunting the first time but easily navigated after we knew what to expect!) We will definitely return to this beautiful part of Devon to relish Penny's hospitality again.

We had a wonderful stay at Brook Farmhouse. The room is beautifully presented and comfortable with every small detail considered. Penny and a Paul are lovely and greet you with warm drinks and cakes on arrival and after long walks. You have use of a cosy sitting room with a fire and breakfast was delicious. We can’t recommend it highly enough!

My friend and I spent 2 nights in this beautiful place. We both thought our rooms extremely comfortable and the breakfasts delicious, served in our own cozy sitting room where we spent one night settled in front of a roaring fire. Penny and Paul could not have been more wonderful and welcoming, helping out when my car broke down and giving me a lift to where I was working locally. This is a fantastic Bed and Breakfast, I highly recommend it.

Catherine, Winchster

What a stunning B&B experience- perfect in every way. A fantastic breakfast, amazing bedroom, a warm welcome. We loved it.

Catherine, Leeds

Quiet, comfy, cosy. An absolute delight to stay in such a wonderfully appointed old farmhouse. Loved the real cotton napkins tied with gingham ribbon, the fresh flowers, the smell of real wax polish, the beautifully appointed bedroom, the warm wood fire, the breakfast to set one up for the day. Everything about the place is of the highest quality. We hope to go back. Loved it!

Fef, Maidstone

We loved it here! The peace and quiet of the countryside and the lovely kind owners - the roaring fire was a treat as was the amazing freshly pressed home made apple juice. Absolute delight!

Have just returned from 3 nights in a very special place. Our own 16th century sitting room with log fire and quaint stairs upto a large and spacious bedroom. Everything delightfully furnished. The owners are a pleasure to meet and strike the perfect balance of being available with advice or leaving you to the privacy of your own appartment. Breakfast is top drawer and there are even two other bedrooms if you have family (sharing the one bathroom). The location is incredibly peaceful and the perfect hideaway. All in all, absolutely brilliant!

We had a fantastic stay at Brook Farmhouse. Penny and Paul made us feel very welcome and the house was beautiful. We had a perfect few days in Devon and it is thanks in massive part to our hosts giving us excellent advice on where to walk and where to eat. The room was so peaceful, we had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay. The bed and bedroom were very comfortable and the breakfast could not be faulted, from the toast, juice, cereal, yoghurt and cooked breakfast all from local ingredients and the farms own hen's eggs. I would heartily recommend this B&B, a real retreat and a real treat.

Marcus

Absolutely beautiful and wonderfully relaxing bed and breakfast. Penny went all out to make sure we had a lovely stay, with tea and homemade shortbread on arrival and delicious breakfasts. The bedroom was beautiful, spacious and very relaxing. I would fully recommend a stay here.

Lucy

We stayed at Brook Farmhouse as a way to break the long journey to Cornwall and we are so glad we did. The house is beautiful, the room is just perfect (the bed is extra comfy) and it is situated in the most picturesque little valley. There is a great pub nearby for a pint and lovely walks around the house. What a find! ps. breakfast with eggs from the chickens out the back was great!!

Charles

A generous and great welcome after a long journey .. tea and lemon drizzle cake in the garden on arrival. The bedroom was gorgeous with flowers and every detail thought of .. it is evident that Paul and Penny are true home makers. We loved it - thank you!

Amazing B&B. Can just recommended this wonderful place. Neatly arranged and decorated rooms with fresh flowers and fruit basket. Everything looks just as you see it on their website. Fabulous breakfast! You don't want too leave that place. Very friedly host, giving good recommendations to spend the day and evenings. Nice walks and Pubs around, however not in walking distance.

Wolfgang

Brook Farmhouse is an extremely pleasant and comfortable country house in the middle of nowhere, but not far from civilisation. Penny and Paul are charming hosts, the breakfast is opulent and delicious: this could just as well be a place to stay during wet and cold November days without leaving the house. In Summer it is a very convenient base to discover the beauties of Dartmoor, Dartmouth, Exeter..... Highly recommendable!

Renate

Our weekend at Brooke Farmhouse was everything we had hope for an more! The house was lovely, the beds very comfy, everything was clean and the breakfast in the morning was delicious!! Penny and Paul were very welcoming and accommodating and made our stay all the more pleasant having such friendly hosts, not to mention their adorable dogs who were also very sweet! We had a lovely stay, the surroundings are also beautiful. I would highly recommend to all!
