The Experience
Concealed by a thick blanket of award-winning woodland is this textbook country bolthole, where the birds chirrup, the river flows and the stars shine brightly. The guardians of your charming miller’s cottage are Sonia and Simon, who live in the nearby Millhouse.
It’s a place to step back and take stock: relax by the creamy Rayburn or doze off by the wonderful old fireplace with limitless logs. A pretty window seat upstairs overlooks the cottage garden – secluded and south-facing, a lovely spot for a summer barbecue.
Explore the valley by foot – Simon and Sonia’s enthusiasm for the area is infectious and they carefully manage the surrounding area. Bees, birds and bluebells are encouraged, and a small herd of beef cattle, pigs, ducks and hens merrily thrive.

Sonia and Simon were wonderful hosts during our weeks stay at Horry Mill. Nothing was too much trouble for them despite them being so busy with their everyday chores on this working farm. The cottage was cosy with everything you would need for an enjoyable stay in any weather. Plenty of logs for the open fire and an endless supply of fresh free range eggs. The setting was about as quiet as it gets and local walks through the surrounding woods are stunning. For those who like to get away from it all, this place nestling in a beautiful Devon valley takes some beating.

Ideal stay, lovely hosts, great attention to detail for comfort of guests. Even in January, exhilarating and picturesque woodland walks on the doorstep. As an artist, I found inspiration inside and outside of the cottage. We've booked already for later in the year. PS a wag of the tail from Jack!

Horry Mill Cottage has proved to be the ideal place for us to spend our precious holidays. The cottage is in a beautiful setting with walks with our dog from the doorstep. The cottage is cosy, tastefully furnished and well equipped. Sonia and Simon are the most friendly hosts, always on hand to give advice or help if needed. We have enjoyed autumn breaks, walking during the day and relaxing in front of a log fire at night, and with our family in summer having a barbecue in the lovelyl garden after days out.. We will keep returning as we have finally found the perfect place to stay!

An idyllic week - beautiful walks out thro' the woods from Horry Mill, cold white wine in the summer house on warmer evenings and log fires when it rained. Horry Mill is so peaceful and relaxing - it was really hard to leave. The owners make it special - fresh eggs, scones and cream, and flowers in the sitting room. Perfection!
