The Experience
It’s utterly peaceful and secluded at this wooden cabin. Circled by nine acres of wildflower meadows and mature trees, it’s a riot of colour in summer and teems with wildlife; grab binoculars and spot woodpeckers, goldcrests and finches. Stroll to the top of the hill for glimpses of the sea.
Inside all is comfy and cosy: a light-filled lounge with books and games, Netflix and Prime; a small but neat galley kitchen; a double bedroom overlooking the garden with proper linen and pillows; a shiny bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. It’s a lovely place to hang out after exploring Totnes, Salcombe or Dartmouth.
There are walks from the door, good cycling, and heaps of excellent foodie places to test; try Restaurant Twenty Seven in Kingsbridge for a gourmet experience. There’s good sailing, surfing and paddle boarding nearby. Eat on the deck, have a nightcap by the fire pit; stargaze across the dark skies, listen for owls.

An ideal quiet location with interesting wildlife. The lodge is tastefully decorated and furnished with all the necessary facilities and equipment that you need. It was the thoughtful touches like the welcome wine, flowers, eggs and milk in the fridge and Mark dropping off the Sunday paper and hot pain au chocolat on the Sunday that made the difference. Also Mark was very helpful in resolving any queries and suggesting places to visit or get a meal. Highly recommended for a beautiful location and comfortable lodge.

Well!! It's been said before, but it can be said again!! From the moment we arrived, we loved this place. We booked a future visit at once! The welcome surprises, all the lovely little touches - the resident half-tame pheasants, the setting and tranquility, and the owners' helpful unobtrusive way - all made for bliss here. Thank you to Mark and Julia for making this possible. Then tonight - our last - another deer with her baby came past! The icing on the cake!! Loved it all.

My Wife and I have just enjoyed the most wonderful of times in this beautiful lodge. What an absolute piece of luck we had to find this stunning location in South Devon, in what is the most tranquil piece of countryside you could ever wish for. Greeted every part of the day by Mother Nature & all her friends. From Deer to Pheasant it was such a delight to enjoy their company. Our stay was just so fabulous, the weather, the places we visited each day & then to come back each evening to complete solitude. Our Hosts were just the best, absolutely wonderful people. Would we come again? YOU BET!!!

Introducing
Julia & Mark Marshall
Julia is a film producer, writer, documentary maker and keen cook, and Mark is now also a writer, having previously travelled the globe for work with his binoculars always near to hand – he’s an avid birdwatcher and student of butterflies. They moved here from Oxfordshire in 2012 and live in the big house on the estate. You can’t see this from the cabin, but they’re on hand should you need anything.
We have had a really lovely stay at Meadow Lodge. The lodge is furnished to a very high standard with a lovely decking area overlooking a picturesque woodland setting with lots of birds in and around the trees. A very relaxing holiday.
