The Experience
On top of a hill, surrounded by a wooded valley, this large Victorian house has room for everyone. Spread out in large living rooms flooded with light, hunker down by the open fire after a day on the surf at sandy Woolacombe (just a 10-minute ride away) or just laze on the lawns with sunny views down to Lee.
There’s a long oak table in the kitchen for big brunches and group dinners. Outside there’s also a gas barbecue and another huge table to fit everybody, so warmer evenings are huge fun. An extra couple can have the private Bothy, with its own wood-burner, all to themselves.
With the rock pools of Lee Bay, the South West Coastal path and a great village pub all minutes away you won’t really need the car. Sunsets are glorious too, so let the children tear about while you open a bottle and find a seat in the garden.

Absolutely brilliant stay. A beautiful house, lovingly restored, with lots of comfort but also retaining the feeling of age and history. The house is well equipped for large groups and has a fantastic terrace with a large outdoor table and chairs and BBQ for warm evenings. We loved the comfortable beds, good quality linen, ping pong table and two sitting rooms - perfect for kids and adults to have separate space. The house is a short walk to the cove with a lovely little beach at low tide.

Heaven away from busy life in an amazing location, just perfect! TOV is a wonderful very large, spacious house for a multi generational family to spend special time together. Lee beach is only 5 minutes walk away and the perfect place to watch sunsets and of course you walk past the Grampus pub en route. We’ve returned at least 4 times and hope it’s not our last.

We had a fantastic week at the Old Vicarage. Lee is a magical and very special place and the house is right in the centre with great access to the coast and loads of walks. We were a family group of 14 and a dog so we used the bothy as well, we had plenty of space in the house which was really comfortable and worked well. It doesn’t feel like a rental property, you really feel that you are staying in someone’s much loved home. The garden isn’t dog proof so you do need to be aware of that but there was plenty of space and we played lawn games and used the barbecue. I would highly recommend.

This house is perfect for family and friends gathering together to enjoy each other's company. There is plenty of space, a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and lots to do locally. It really does feel like "home" and has been very well maintained, with lots to keep children entertained as well as providing some quite spaces for adults. Highly recommended, we would love to return.

Location
The neighbourhood
The Old Vicarage is in the small village of Lee. The rock pools and coves of Lee Bay are a short walk away and a 14th century village pub The Grampus is a five-minute walk. The pub serves good organic ales and locally sourced food and doubles up as a shop for essentials. There are several trails nearby including stunning coastal walks and it’s just a ten-minute drive to arty Ilfracombe or the beautiful sandy beach at Woolacombe.
Local points of interest from Amanda Robertson
- The house has always been popular with groups of all sizes whether its a family of 4 or a party of 15, a celebration, a holiday or just a weekend away! We have a range of rates starting at a small party of 10 guests for week or weekend breaks to suit all.
- Lee bay Village is a little hidden gem, rarely discovered by many as there is minimal beach parking. Wonderful cove beaches and rock pools. A very popular spot for paddle boarding and kayaking, all ages can join active escapes who run adventures from Lee.
- On the door step, stunning walks along the SW coastal path, 15 min drive Sea Safari, swim with dolphins and seals, trips to Lundy Island, Surfing lessons on Woolacombe, Ilfracombe aquarium, off road quad biking, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting and more.
- The Grampus pub is 2 mins walk, a host of other excellent pubs in the area. Local Chef's can cook a variety of culinary delights to order and deliver or cook in house of an evening or enjoy a Sri-Lankan curry on Barricane beach and watch the sun go down.
- The Bothy (cottage) is extra accommodation for the main house. A quaint Victorian out house converted to sleep an extra couple in a king suite with wet room. Oak floors, under floor heating and a wood burner to light on chilly nights. A romantic hideaway!
- All the comforts of a luxury home with crisp Egyptian cotton sheets, large comfy beds (4 x Super/king beds), Open fire and wood burner, an abundance of good reads, games, table tennis, badminton on the lawn and lots more to amuse!

Introducing
Amanda Robertson
The Robertson family live and work in London but escape to Devon as often as they can. They love opening up their houses to guests.
The Old Vicarage is a perfect idyllic escape, located in small coastal village and near coastal path. Spacious accommodation surrounded by beautiful gardens and equipped to exceptionally high standards. Ideal for families and friends gatherings. My family spent 1 week exploring the beautiful North Devon coast, visiting local beaches and walking our dogs along the coastal path.
