The Experience

Perfect for family holidays. Each cottage has its own patio for al fresco meals, then you can explore the stunning communal garden with its mature trees, colourful shrubs and flowers and plenty of seasonal fruit and veg which you’re welcome to help yourselves to. Children will find another little gate into a play area with swings and a slide so they’ll soon make friends with any other children staying, leaving you to sit in peace.

There’s plenty of comfortable seating indoors, a big telly for rainy days and a merry wood-burner to keep you cosy. The kitchen is a good size, is well-equipped and has a central island for prepping and all the basics for cooking along with a generous welcome pack of local eggs, home-baked cake, milk, bread and butter. You can order baked goods, jams and chutneys in advance and there’s a pub with a huge garden serving good food right next door.

Swim in the communal pool, light the barbecue, unwind.

Reviews

We booked Gardeners Cottage along with the other adjoining cottages for our Wedding weekend at the local church and pub!! Everyone had an amazing weekend during our stay, the cottages were beautiful and clean with everything needed. The gardens were amazing, the kids loved the play-area and the sun came out to enjoy the pool. Adele and Nigel were on hand if we needed anything and really helpful before the trip, making sure we had everything needed for our stays, they even came to the wedding venue in the afternoon and congratulated us. Beautiful stay and amazing hosts.

Paula, Verwood

Adele and Nigel are superhosts! Our whole experience was great. Their place is outstandingly beautiful with the gardens, pool and countryside. The cottage was very clean and really well equipped for everything we needed. Lovely beds, linens and towels. Also it was a great touch to arrive to delicious fresh bread, butter and cake after a long journey. The village is incredibly quiet and great for big or small walks. Also Adele sells excellent homemade jams, definitely spoil yourself with some! Will definitely visit again.

Magdalena, Surrey

Beautiful cottages which have been finished to very high standards. Gardeners cottage was very cosy and immaculate with everything we could wish for. Nigel and Adele are fantastic hosts, very friendly and welcoming. The welcome pack was very appreciated especially the cake baked by Adele. Adele is a brilliant baker and her Dorset Apple Cake and Tiffin Cake were amazing. Thoroughly recommend! The grounds are beautiful and the pub is only 150 metres away. We will be happy to return again.

Tina, Southampton

The cottage is lovely, in a great location. Very comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen - the cottage had really everything we needed for our stay. Communication with Adele was easy and we were met on arrival. Highly recommended.

Wonderful stay at Dominey’s Yard. We stayed for four nights and couldn’t fault the location, accommodation, hospitality or anything else. The cottages are absolutely wonderful. Recently refurbished they’re like new and very well equipped. On arrival it felt like we were booking into a five star hotel. The gardens are beautiful and the surrounding countryside is breathtaking. Nigel and Adele are the most welcoming and helpful hosts we’ve ever encountered. To say they go the extra mile is an understatement. We’ll be staying here again and would thoroughly recommend Dominey’s Yard to anyone looki

If you like hosts that are there for you and enjoy making your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible then you could not ask for better than Adele and Nigel. They love sharing the produce from their beautifully stocked kitchen garden and you can spend endless hours just exploring the thoughtfully landscaped gardens or take a leisurely walk in the beautiful Dorset countryside.

Location

The neighbourhood

In the village you'll find a little shop and post office and marked walks which you'll find details of in the information pack. The Gaggle of Geese next door serves good pub classics and holds many community events. The next village is Cerne Abbas, mentioned in the Domesday book and famous for its giant chalk figure. Sherborne and Dorchester are both 10 miles, Weymouth just under half an hour.

Local points of interest from Adele Murray

  • Dorchester – the county town. Visit the Roman Town House and Amphitheatre and also stand in the dock where the Martyrs stood trial.
  • Sherborne – a beautiful and historic market town, home to Sherborne Abbey, Castle (the former home of Sir Walter Raleigh) and Gardens. The town itself has a wide range of individually owned shops, boutiques and antique shops to while away the afternoon.
  • Milton Abbas – the epitome of a Dorset village, dozens of beautiful thatched cob cottages lining each side of the only road in and out of the village, complete with pub and tea rooms serving delicious food. The Abbey church close by is also open to the public.
  • Weymouth – The classic English seaside resort and a favourite bathing place of George III. Sandy beaches with brightly coloured beach huts, punch and judy and donkey rides, sit comfortably alongside a back drop of independent shops, cafés and restaurants.
  • Wareham – sits on the banks of the River Frome and is a saxon walled town. A great place to wander around with various unique shops and cafes. Hire a boat or kayak or for the less energetic board a river cruise to while away an hour or two.
  • Jurassic Coast – a World Heritage site, stretching from Studland Bay, on the southern shore of Poole Harbour, to Exmouth in East Devon. The Dorset coast incorporates just over 80 miles of the South West Coast Path along this stretch.

Introducing

Adele Murray

Nigel and Adele love living in such a pretty part of Dorset. Having spent 10 years owning a large holiday cottage business in Cornwall, they know exactly what guests are looking for. They do everything they can to help you relax, feel at home and make wonderful holiday memories. They are on hand to give advice but are utterly unobtrusive. Adele bakes delicious cakes.
