The Experience

On the edge of historic Wimborne, a beautifully renovated Georgian house with bags of space for families or groups of friends. Charming owners Ali and William live further down the lane at Deans Court and the front windows frame views of the iron gates and mature trees of their estate. Step through an arched doorway into a spacious architectural gem. High ceilings, cosy nooks, sash windows and a wonderful turned staircase rub shoulders with Ali’s flair for interior design. Vibrant kilims brighten white wooden floors, while patterned French linen blinds team well with walls painted in delicate shades. The seven peaceful bedrooms are filled with antiques and overlook the lawned garden or the estate; traditional bathrooms are stocked with fluffy white towels and Bramley products. Stroll to the farmers’ market for local produce and enjoy candlelit feasts in the theatrical, red dining room. There’s an entertainment room with all the screen fun you could want: TV, Netflix, Apple movies to rent, Xbox… And a hot tub for five just outside. The ancient Minster is a short walk and little ones will love the dinky ‘Model Village’.

Reviews

Dina, Guildford

This was our third visit to the Gate House which is an ideal venue for a reunion of friends, having 7 large bedrooms. The house is beautiful and even more comfortable this year with some new furniture, a very generous welcome table of food and flowers, luxurious bathrobes in each room and a new 'cinema suite'. We didn't use the hot tub because heavy rain and hail put us off and we didn't get round to watching the big screen very much but it was a great room for learning to salsa!

I couldn't recommend The Gate House more. We had a wonderful stay. The interior design is beautiful and incredibly luxurious. We had everything we needed in terms of cooking equipment and utensils. The beds were super comfortable and the house was immaculately clean. I would return to The Gate House in a heartbeat. Thank you to everyone involved for making our stay so special.

Angie and friends, Trowbridge

Absolutely brilliant service and lovely goodies in the welcome pack. This was our second visit to the Gatehouse and once again we immediately felt at home. The house is very comfortable and stylish but also well equipped for large groups. We enjoyed using the hot tub and found the bath robes very useful for nipping outside. Wimborne is a charming town with just the right mix of shops and the house is perfectly located to take advantage of this. There are also many pubs and restaurants a short stroll away. Such a perfect home from home ……… we may be back once more!

Absolutely perfect hen weekend at the Gate House. The house is gorgeous. It's perfectly equipped with everything you need for a luxurious but cosy weekend. All the rooms are amazing and a home from home. It's a great location but so peaceful and a great escape. Would highly recommend and can't wait to come back. Beds were comfortable and spacious. Kitchen very well equipped for cooking and entertaining. Lots of crockery and glasses and cutlery and good quality too. Loved all the fridges and the provision of ice.

Joanne, London

The Gate House is absolutely fabulous - beautifully decorated, equipped with pretty much everything you could need and just a stone's throw from Wimborne. The bedrooms were lovely, the dining room was great, the living room with the wood-burning stove was super-cosy and the media room was fantastic - made for lounging about. We also loved the hot tub and the football table - such fun. All in all, it was a great place and we wouldn't hesitate to go back.
