The Experience

On the edge of historic Wimborne, a beautifully renovated Georgian house with bags of space for families or groups of friends. Charming owners Ali and William live further down the lane at Deans Court and the front windows frame views of the iron gates and mature trees of their estate. Step through an arched doorway into a spacious architectural gem. High ceilings, cosy nooks, sash windows and a wonderful turned staircase rub shoulders with Ali’s flair for interior design. Vibrant kilims brighten white wooden floors, while patterned French linen blinds team well with walls painted in delicate shades. The seven peaceful bedrooms are filled with antiques and overlook the lawned garden or the estate; traditional bathrooms are stocked with fluffy white towels and Bramley products. Stroll to the farmers’ market for local produce and enjoy candlelit feasts in the theatrical, red dining room. There’s an entertainment room with all the screen fun you could want: TV, Netflix, Apple movies to rent, Xbox… And a hot tub for five just outside. The ancient Minster is a short walk and little ones will love the dinky ‘Model Village’.

Reviews

Our fifth time staying in this wonderful house and once again a most enjoyable experience. Careful thought has been given to every aspect ... Also, the high standards are maintained from year to year with improvements to be seen each time we return. Anyone who is looking for a house to accommodate a large group won’t find anywhere better than the Gatehouse. Plenty of very convenient parking and close proximity to all that Wimborne has to offer makes for a trouble free stay. And ..the delightful Jonathan is easy to contact and endlessly helpful. Already looking forward to next year’s stay.

We stayed at the Gate House and the Apple and Plum Cottages for our wedding in September 2023 and all of the accommodation was perfect. We had a lot of family and friends travelling from further afield and needed somewhere comfortable for them to stay, which all of the Deans Court accommodation provided and more. The grounds and buildings are beautiful and well maintained, and stocked with everything you could possibly need. The hot tub and BBQ in the gatehouse garden were fantastic bonuses.... A huge thank you to the Deans Court Team for everything :)

Beth & Tom, Poole

The Gatehouse is everything and more! Stunning and equipt with everything you need and more!!!!

Amy, Wimborne

The accommodation at Deans Court is truly wonderful. Our wedding party stayed here for three nights in July 2023. The amenities are wonderful, beautifully decorated and the little touches (such as the welcome food basket) really don't go unnoticed. The location is also perfect, a stones throw away from Wimborne town. The team were also super helpful with an early check in and early warm up of the hot tub to allow us to use it the first night of our stay.

Alice, Poole

We booked the gate house for my daughter and her friends and they had a ball. It had everything we needed and we loved the space the bedrooms and the garden with hot tub. It was everything my daughter wanted and more. We hope to come back with all the family.

Absolutely amazing! Couldn’t have asked for anything more, what a lovely place for us to stay a few days after our wedding!

Chamina, Bournemouth

We had a lovely full family weekend at the Gate House. The children absolutely loved the games room, hot tub and playing badminton in the garden. We had some lovely walks along the river with the dog and Granny loved having the church on the doorstep. Didn't realise how central it was when we booked but was perfect. So much space too, 12 people and 2 dogs and still plenty of room to escape each other

What a superb place to celebrate my 60th birthday with a group of friends! The house is magnificent. Beautifully decorated and set back from any road but just two or three minutes into the town! It is a haven of tranquility. The large games / TV / movie room is a real plus for a big group in the evening. Every detail is thought of, and the hot tub was welcome for relation after walks around Brownsea Island and Kingston Lacy nearby. The lovely cafe and shop next door should not be missed.

Lin, Teddington

Fabulous house to have a great ladies weekend, with lots of space to accommodate 11 of us very easily, such a great location with pubs and restaurants very close, but the house is lovely and peaceful, personally I loved listening to the bells Sunday morning.

Carolyn, Southampton

The Gatehouse is a perfect venue for a large group. There was 10 (and one dog) in our party with plenty of space. Everything was supplied so you'll only need to bring your luggage. There was a large vase of roses on the kitchen table to welcome us. And tea, coffee and milk etc. so you can put your feet up with a cuppa before unpacking! We enjoyed a fabulous mini break in an historic home and would recommend it to anyone.

Teresa, Trowbridge

Great accommodation-really warm and comfortable and well equipped.

Sarah, Gosport

Our fourth visit and we still enjoy the Gatehouse as much as the first time. A beautiful, interesting building in a great location. All our needs are well-catered for with a warm, comfortable vibe. Looking forward to the next time.

Laura, Salisbury

This is a beautiful property, everything was perfect and spotlessly clean. It was very well equipped and maintained. It is literally a minutes walk from Wimborne town centre which is lovely. Although it is so close to the town centre there is absolutely no noise heard from it in the house or garden. Jonathan was particularly helpful at all times and especially when we had to contact out of office hours with a query. We would rate the property and people as 5 stars without hesitation. Hope to return sometime. Thank you to the Deansgate Team.

Our multi-generation family (ages 2 to 68) break was lovely. The house wss spacious enough for different groups to get together for games, chatter, snacks (even a temporary office for those who had to work) but we all assembled round the dining table for dinner. The location is great - from many options for driving on days out, to pottering locally and shopping last minute for staying in. The hot tub was well used and much appreciated. We had hoped to do a family photo with all of us wearing your thoughtfully provided towelling robes - but it seems we were much too busy.

Ruth, London

We had a wonderful time at the Gate House celebrating a family birthday. There was plenty of space for all of us - 8 adults and 7 children. The little ones loved exploring the house and the games room was a great idea for both children and adults. A lovely break for all the family thank you.

Holly, Haslemere

Beautiful house. Excellent location. Warm, comfortable and spacious. Parking is fabulous, you can literally back the car up to the front door to load and unload. The housekeepers are to be congratulated as an old house is difficult to keep clean and this was pristine. Best equipped house we have ever rented. You never run out of anything. Very short walk to Waitrose if needed. Restaurants, bars, coffee shops on the doorstep. With eight people staying, the code entry system was ideal. No key sharing. We had a wonderful time.

Jacky, Surrey

A wonderful stay at The Gate House. Such a beautiful house, with so much space for our long awaited family get together. Only there for a long weekend, but so relaxing felt as if we had been there so much longer.

Jane, Bath

This beautiful house embraces you the moment you walk through the door . Everything is there for the perfect stay, character and charm oozes from every room. Comfortable lounge with wood burner , spacious dining room , plenty of space to seat us all for Christmas dinner. Wonderfully equipped kitchen, obviously stocked by an experienced foodie. Add the media room , the table football was a big hit with every generation, as was the hot tub. All in all you have the perfect home away from home. Jonathan and his staff were wonderful, very attentive ....

Debra, Broadstone

Another wonderful stay at the Gate House. We first stayed here when we got married at Deans Court so it was the perfect place for us to return to for a family event. From the thoughtful welcome note to the extra touches to make us as comfortable as possible, we truly had the best time here and only wish we could have stayed longer!

Abi, London

A perfect property for big family get-togethers. The media room and hot tub were a particular hit with the younger generation, and we all enjoyed the easy stroll into Wimborne town. It felt such a privilege to spend time in such a beautiful historic house. ..... Precious memories were made. A warm, comfortable, beautiful property in a perfect location, and we really appreciated the Christmas tree in the hallway, the wreath on that stunning curved front door, and the generous welcome pack.
