The Experience
Nothing has been overlooked when it comes to your comfort: deep mattresses with plump toppings, Piglet in Bed linens, lovely-smelling Out of Eden soaps and lotions in en suite bathrooms, peaceful views over garden and countryside; there’s a sense of privacy as none of the rooms are side-by-side. You also have comfortable chairs or a sofa and smart TVs for settling in.
Wake to delicious breakfasts: help yourselves to homemade granola, fresh muffins and croissants, freshly squeezed orange juice; full English, avocado smash or scrambled eggs with spinach and pine nuts will set you up for a day exploring. Nicky uses organic produce wherever possible.
Wander the three-acre garden – discover meadows, mature trees, and a productive vegetable garden alongside formal rose beds, ornamental borders and a south-facing Mediterranean courtyard with a pond. With a bit of notice Nicky will prepare you a cold platter or a three-course meal.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're in a quiet country lane surrounded by green fields. The motorway is only a stone's throw – Berkeley is the nearest town with independent shops, cafés and pubs and Berkeley Castle is well worth visiting. Slimbridge Wetland Centre is a five to 10-minute drive. South Cotswolds towns include Wotton-Under-Edge(15 mins) and Stroud (30 mins) with frequent direct services to London. Join The Cotswold Way for fabulous walks.
Local points of interest from Nicky
- Set in a quintessential English country garden, Pond Cottage is surrounded by over 100 roses, meadows, mature trees, a wildlife pond and sunny south-facing courtyard. Birds, bees and dragonflies thrive here, with quiet corners to sit and space to wander.
- Less than 4 miles from the Saxon market town of Berkeley, home to magnificent 11th-century Berkeley Castle, ancient parish church and the Jenner Museum, former home of the smallpox vaccine pioneer.
- On our doorstep is the mighty River Severn, the UK's longest river, with its riparian wildlife. Here you can visit the world-renowned Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge (5.6 miles) or explore the Purton Ships Graveyard on the river shore (2.8 miles).
- With the Cotswold escarpment just 4 miles away, Pond Cottage is ideally placed for exploring the unspoiled Southern Cotswolds countryside and medieval towns - from traditional Painswick to progressive Stroud to royal Tetbury, home of King Charles III.
- Walking lovers are well looked after: Nicky is a keen walker sharing GPS routes to Berkeley, WWT Slimbridge and local countryside, plus favourite Southern Cotswolds walks. The Cotswold Way and Severn Way lie under 4 miles away, with return transfer offered.
- Despite its peaceful rural setting, Pond Cottage has excellent road links, with Bristol, Cheltenham and Gloucester within 40 minutes, Cirencester 50 minutes, Bath 75 minutes and London about three hours away, making city trips simple and stress free too!!
