The Experience

Perhaps it’s the gentle, unstuffy attitude of Kate and Edward. Or the great position of the house with its glorious views across the Golden Valley. Whichever, you’ll feel comforted and invigorated by your stay in this family home. Kate is a keen gardener, swathes of white tulips flourish under trees heavy with white blossom and she is happy to show you round her cutting garden.

You feel nicely cocooned in the guest wing: a pretty bedroom above your own comfortable, book-filled sitting room opening to a flowery courtyard.  Sleep soundly on the softest of pillows, wake to deep countryside peace and a delicious breakfast. Kate brings in a tray piled high with different jars of cereals, a bowl of fruit, sometimes compote, yogurt, tasty bacon, home apple juice and eggs from the hens.

There’s a profusion of inspiring gardens to visit; you can join the  Cotswold Trail from the door or borrow bikes; and the village pub does great food.

Reviews

Daniel and Sarah, London

This is a truly special place to stay. Edward and Kate were the perfect hosts, giving us a warm welcome and yet also giving us space and peace to relax and unwind. Well farm is stunning and the room and bathroom beautiful. Snowdrops in the bedroom, a warm cosy fire downstairs and their own eggs and apple juice. We left after 3 nights feeling utterly well rested.

Patricia, Chalgrove

11 out of ten. We had a wonderful three days stay. Very cold and sunny outside but cosy and warm in. Lovely bed and linen, also great ensuite. Beautiful gardens, free to roam and such friendly hosts. Altogether a place we would love to return to.

Paul, London

This perfect slice of England is presented so beautifully and is a wonderfully peaceful place to stay. The welcome was so warm and friendly; we would come back time after time if we could.

Carol, Boughton Aluph, kent

This is a lovely, peaceful place to stay with a beautiful garden in an unspoilt area of the Cotswolds. If you enjoy walking you can't go wrong here. Kate and Edward are kind and helpful hosts with plentiful local knowledge. The accommodation is delightful too.

Barrie, Not a city, north-east Hampshire

A friendly welcome to a delightful place, where we stayed for three nights. Lovely garden and wonderful, peaceful surroundings. The accommodation is over two floors, and both the bedroom and the sitting room are comfortable and generously sized. No hesitation in recommending Well Farm equally to those new to the Cotswolds and to those returning.

Location

The neighbourhood

Easy for exploring the South Cotswolds. Charming market towns Tetbury, Cirencester and Stroud are all nearby: antiques, shops, markets. Wonderful walks start from the house: discover the Golden Valley; walk along the old canal, through beech woodlands or Cirencester Park. Find excellent pubs in Frampton Mansell (a walk) and Sapperton (three-minute drive); stroll to Jolly Nice farm shop and café.

  • Fantastic local pubs. We feel very lucky to have The Crown in Frampton Mansell as our local pub - good food and very friendly. The Bell at Sapperton is also excellent and we also recommend the Wool Pack in Slad. Many others too!

Introducing

Kate & Edward Gordon Lennox

Kate and Edward moved here in 1998, creating the garden from scratch; they love sharing their home. Much thought goes into everything from good food to the best linen. Edward is happy to get out maps and suggest walks. Kate knows all the local gardens, and she runs a garden and flower design business - Rich Pickings - growing some of the flowers here. Friendly dogs Jaffa and Dot live here too.
