The Experience

This cosy brick house stands in 15 acres of garden, beech wood and orchard, and faces the river: only wildlife breaks the silence. Rob has opened his family home and delights in sharing it. Easy-going charm pervades and quirk abounds: cigar boxes inlaid into one wall, murals in the hall, family photos and paintings dotted about, and stacks of books. A polished dining table and a mismatch of utensils hang above the kitchen’s uneven flagstones. Watch the swirling river over breakfast, listen to it rush past from the comfort of a squashy living room sofa; there’s a lovely wood-burner here, and a snug room at the back of the house. All but one of the sweet bedrooms have river views, all have good mattresses and blissful peace. There’s a ground floor shower plus two more bathrooms above. Come for open space and peace… skim stones, spy otters, soak up the wonderful views. And you’re only a 15 minute walk from Hay-on-Wye.

Reviews

Claire, York

What a magical stay! The cottage was delightful, close to nature, with a relaxed and homely feel. 9 of us comfortably fitted round the kitchen table for meals and the 2 sitting rooms, garden areas and 5 cute bedrooms allowed us to relax together or separately - especially when the teenagers wanted a lie-in. What made the place truly special was the location over-looking the Wye. It's one of the best places to swim in the river and we had our own little path down into the water. We swam and paddle boarded every day. In our delightful cottage at the bend of the river we found a true hidden gem.

Louise, London

Simply the most idyllic spot, the position is unbeatable, we swam in the river, picnicked on its banks and watched the world go by. The house is charming and has everything you need. Could not recommend more highly!

Rebecca, Birmingham

We spent a magical weekend at Nethouse. It is pure bliss how isolated it is. Only the sound of the wildlife and the river can be heard. The location is hard to beat. It is a very special place. We sat in the garden watching the sun go down. The house is clean and charming. We will definitely be returning.

Jenny, St Albans

My daughters took me to Net House to celebrate my 60th birthday and we had the most fantastic weekend. The house is absolutely gorgeous and has everything a group could need. The river is totally magical, we walked to Hay, canoed down the Wye, ate good food, and the weather was amazing. Perfect!

Vanessa

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for letting us stay in your amazing house on the river. We had such a wonderful weekend with glorious weather. My children (two girls) aged 9 and 12 were in heaven. We canoed, swam in the river, beautiful walks, explored the wonderful vintage shops in Hay on Waye and totally switched off from our busy lives in London. We will most definitely be returning! Net house has such a 'happy' vibe. We really did feel like the luckiest people in the town.
