The Experience

Come and be cosseted in this quintessentially English thatched cottage with chickens clucking about, two friendly terriers and lovely Sheila who cooks a breakfast which will set you up for anything: homemade granola, local sausages, bacon and tomatoes, fresh sourdough from the local bakery and multi coloured eggs from the hens you can say hello to outside. Admire the garden with its topiary, box parterres, herbaceous borders and vegetables while you decide what to do with your day.

Wander into the village in 10 minutes for a well-stocked village shop and a tea room, walk 25 minutes to the Sun Inn at Hulverstone for a good supper – Sheila offers a lift there if you’d rather not walk and you can get a taxi back. There is a bus stop nearby with buses to Newport on the hour until 5pm. On fine days you’re welcome to sit in the garden listening to many birds.

Sleep in a cosy bedroom with a crisply-dressed bed.

Reviews

Little Pitt place is a gem with a beautiful garden, view of the sea, rolling hills and woodland, sheep and horses grazing nearby. Peace and tranquillity reign. Sheila is a warm and natural host and gave us a lovely stay. Friendly welcome, fresh flowers, comfy bed, delicious breakfast and cake, sweet dogs and a wonderful view from your bedroom window. We loved it!

What a lovely warm welcome from Sheila, and also lovely to meet her gorgeous little dogs and beautiful chickens! Little Pitt Place is rural cottage perfection, and if you love gardens, you're in for a real treat.

Location

The neighbourhood

There's a getting away from it all vibe in this area, known as 'the back of the Wight' and you're surrounded by nature. Fields lead up to a wooded copse above the cottage for nature-filled walks with hares, foxes, badgers, lots of bird life and rare butterflies. Walk to Chilton Chine beach in 15 minutes along a bridleway. Yarmouth is a 15-minute drive and gorgeous Osborne House about 40 mins.
