The Experience
You’re just off the high street for a farm shop, good butcher and The Whitstable Fish Market on the harbour for fresh, sustainable fish and oysters. Bring everything back to the kitchen, a superb space with handmade wooden worktops, a big range cooker, Smeg fridge and every pot and pan you could want – including a lobster pot. Refillable glass jars of pasta, rice etc can be replaced at the zero waste shop, there are cupboards of herbs and spices, plus a bottle of Prosecco cooling.
Bedrooms are spread over the two floors: find vintage beds and mirrors, plants, rich hand cream and bath robes; the downstairs bathroom has a vintage roll top and the upstairs a shower – both have Aesop body wash. In summer you’ll be in the walled garden which is just made for entertaining and has a summerhouse (with a cinema projector and WiFi), a chiminea, hammock, and an outdoor kitchen with a Big Green Egg – perfect for smoking, roasting and pizza making.
If you’re stuck indoors then play some vinyl or a board game, choose a book, light the open fire and settle on a restful Chesterfield.

The Cook’s Cottage is a very thoughtfully put together home, with everything that visitors could possibly need for their stay, from dog treats to an old record player and a fantastic collection of vinyl! Selina was an excellent host, and we thoroughly appreciated the little touches, like the bottle of Prosecco and candle that she leaves for her guests.

Our week at Cooks Cottage in Whitstable was an absolute delight! The cottage's charming decor & thoughtful amenities made our stay truly special. The location is fantastic, just a short hop to the beach, shops & restaurants + it’s dog-friendly, which made it perfect for our furry friend. We loved evenings by the fire, the nostalgic antique record player, the beautifully equipped kitchen that made cooking a joy. Every detail was carefully considered, ensuring we had everything we needed. The only downside was having to leave! We highly recommend Cooks Cottage. Five ⭐️ without hesitation

We had a lovely stay at Cook's Cottage. Selina our host was lovely. Very good communication and nothing was too much trouble. The Cottage itself is beautiful. Charming with shabby chic furniture throughout. It's a home away from home. The location is great, walkable distance to everything. Local eateries such as Birdies, The Neptune were our favourites. The retro old style vinyl record player in the dining room is beautiful. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Location
The neighbourhood
It's an arty place, Whitstable, so you'll find a myriad of galleries, independent restaurants, pubs and shops. You're also just a 30-second wander to the sea front for a blast of ozone – from here the sunsets are fabulous, and it’s dog-friendly all year round. In Seasalter (10-mins in the car) is The Sportsman - Michelin starred. There are coastal and woodland walks, bird sanctuaries and water sports such as paddle boarding to try.
Local points of interest from Selina & Tom
- Whitstable is known for its spectacular sunsets. Nothing beats sitting outside the Neptune pub and watching the sun go down. It's a Whistable tradition. Everyone stops what they’re doing and heads to the beach to see the sunset at the close of the day.
- Once you've parked your car and checked in to our cottage you won't need to use the car again as everything is just a short walk away, from all the independent shops to the many bars and restaurants. And the beach is just a 30-sec walk to as well!
- Whitstable is foodie heaven and is known for its Oysters and fresh fish. This small coastal town is also packed with lots of amazing places to eat & drink.
- Recommend booking into The Sportsman in Seasalter, a Michelin star restaurant that has stood in its windswept coastal position since 1642. Book ahead as there is a 3-month waiting list. Also, we recommend Wheelers in Whitstable & JoJo's in Tankerton.
- Whitstable is a private beach so dogs are allowed on the beach all year round. Whistable is probably one of the most dog-friendly towns in the UK and most of the bars and some of the restaurants are dog friendly.
- Whitstable and the surrounding area offers some of the best cycling. From the longer Kent Coast Way which is a 68 miles round trip from Whitstable to Sandwich, to the shorter Crab & Winkle Way which is 7.6 miles in total between Whitstable & Canterbury.

Introducing
Selina & Tom
Selina and Tom have spent years renovating the cottage and filling it with their French flea market and vintage shop finds. She's keen that you support the local shops and she leaves lots of information so you can enjoy your stay to the full. They called the cottage The Cook's Cottage because of their love of cooking (especially Tom's), which you can tell by how well-equipped the kitchen is.
Wow what can I say. The most amazing place to stay in Whitstable. A hidden gem. Everything perfect. We had the most incredible weekend. Thank you for letting us rent your beautiful home x
