The Experience
Walks down the surrounding wildlife-filled lanes will please lovers of nature all year round, in summer you’ll spot butterflies and bees while at night the resident owls flit through the starlit skies. The open-plan living/dining room is a grand place to settle, with plenty of books, smokeless fuel range and comfy seating. You’ll find basics for cooking in the kitchen cupboards and a super welcome pack of own label wine, local plum bread and butter.
On sunny days you can spill through the French windows onto the patio for al fresco suppers, a barbecue and optional pop-up hot tub. Drive a short distance, or walk, for wild swimming in the lake, or you can try your hand at fly fishing. The owners are happy to let you use their tennis court.
Upstairs are two charming bedrooms with lovely quilts and blankets, gleaming en suite bathrooms and an extra child or cot room. You can order a meal from a good local chef, or walk to the Clickem Inn.

Marris Cottage is a lovely place to stay. Tastefully decorated, compact but comfortable. Situated on the quietest of lanes (about four cars a day passed by!) it provided an oasis of calm in one of the loveliest parts of England. We felt like we had stepped back in time. The roads were so quiet and the open views of unspoilt countryside made cycling the hills and valleys of the Lincolnshire Wolds a real treat...we had uninterrupted birdsong from dawn to dusk. A real hidden gem. We will be back!

Excellent cottage which had two fully equipped bathrooms so ideal for two couples. And along a very busy road😜: 2 cars a day! We enjoyed the rest and peace during a fortnight stay.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're on the outskirts of Thorganby village with far-reaching views of the rolling countryside. Stock up at the excellent farm shop, The Wolds Edge, who sell Lincoln Red beef and have a café. Louth is only 12 miles, a unique Georgian market town, good for exploring. Buy haddock and salmon from Alfred Enderby in Grimsby – smoked in the traditional way and which can be delivered.
