The Experience

This is an easy place with a sweet coastal feel – perfect for an escape anytime of the year. Cosy up in front of the glowing wood-burner, read a book in the snug, or cook hearty meals in the bright, open-plan kitchen which leads out to the enclosed sun-trap garden. It’s peaceful with a slice of lawn to tumble about on and a terrace for al fresco suppers.

Help yourself to crabbing nets and other useful beachy stuff from the summer house and spend a day at the seaside: Holkham near charming Wells-next-the-Sea is only 11 miles. Potter around Burnham Market’s independent emporiums or treat your party to a pub supper at The White Horse in Brancaster.

Sleep soundly upstairs. You get a generous double en suite with a roll top and two sunny bedrooms sharing a family bathroom.

Reviews

I think both Rosie and I thought it was a totally delicious place to spend a few days, particularly as everything to make ones stay there as hassle free as possible, had been thought of, including lovely furry hot water bottles! The cottage really is luxuriously well decorated and furnished with great style.

We had a wonderful stay in this delightful cottage. Incredibly well kitted out, plenty of room and a great little garden to bbq in. Ilonka was so helpful and very proactive, she gave us details of how to rent a beach hut at Wells next the Sea and we had an amazing day! Lots of good restaurants/bars/cafes nearby and we will definitely return to this charming part of the UK. Would highly recommend.

Tina, Herne Bay

Another lovely stay but this time in Summer! Cottage was just as we remembered with white company cotton linen and soft towels. Everything you need to cook in the kitchen and a good BBQ! The welcome gifts were appreciated by all too! The living room has really comfortable sofas and a great TV, perfect finishing touches make it a relaxing room. We left refreshed and made the most of this beautiful area that I know very well & miss when I leave so I'm so pleased to have found Ilonkas house. Great location for all beaches & towns. We will return! Tina, Steve & Hattie

We had a fabulous stay at the cottage and the decor was beautiful, including the Christmas decorations and tree. The main living room looked wonderful! The beds were so comfortable and everything was spotless. The nice little touches of wine, chocolates & snacks were very welcome! The logs provided too. The kitchen was well equipped and great to entertain in with the small 'snug' and dining area. I must say, Ilonka, that this was one of the best holiday cottages we have rented in the UK. For once, everything you might want in a holiday house was thought of. We will return!

Thank you so much Ilonka! We have had a wonderful stay in your beautiful house - home - and have fully relaxed at last. It is a beautiful place. We've walked, paddled, sat in the sun, been truly lazy and eaten well. What more could we ask! Long journey home now - many wonderful memories made. Pete saw a hare yesterday! Thank you!! Location

The neighbourhood

The village has a duck pond, a park, an excellent chippy and a shop (open seven days a week), otherwise nip to Brancaster or Burnham Market (both five miles) for more choice. Brancaster also has a beach, other beaches to note are: Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Hunstanton. RSPB Titchwell Marsh (5.5 miles) has incredible birdlife and NT Blakeney Point (17 miles) is the place to spot basking seals.

Local points of interest from Ilonka Lenzen

  • Sextons Place will be your cosy yet luxurious home from home, a place to fully recharge, relax and explore over 40 miles of stunning coastline with Blue Flag beaches, coastal paths, museums, stately homes and pretty villages. Something for all the family!
  • Head to nearby Burnham Market, one of Norfolks most picturesque villages, with independent boutique shops, delicious delis, artisan bakeries, picture-card perfect pubs and cafes and award-winning dining experiences, all clustered around a village green.
  • Two of our favourite nearby beaches are Brancaster and Holkham, where they filmed Shakespeare in Love. Holkham is romantic and wild with unspoilt stretches of sand, while Brancaster is family friendly and great for picnics and building sandcastles.
  • For culture visit Holkham Hall with its 25,000 acre estate and plethora of wildlife, Houghton Hall for its outdoor sculptures and exhibitions and Sandringham Estate which is the much-loved country retreat of the British Royal Family since 1862.
  • There are so many ways to explore the Norfolk coastline, from walking to cycling, paddle boarding, golf, crabbing, boat trips to visit the seals or sailing around the creeks. The choice is endless and we are always happy to provide our recommendations.
  • A trip to Wells is always a must, an old harbour town renowned for the finest fish and chips on the coast and iconic colourful beach huts. Our hut, Upper Deck, is also available for day hire through The Happy Huts which we can arrange for you separately..
