The Experience
This is an easy place with a sweet coastal feel – perfect for an escape anytime of the year. Cosy up in front of the glowing wood-burner, read a book in the snug, or cook hearty meals in the bright, open-plan kitchen which leads out to the enclosed sun-trap garden. It’s peaceful with a slice of lawn to tumble about on and a terrace for al fresco suppers.
Help yourself to crabbing nets and other useful beachy stuff from the summer house and spend a day at the seaside: Holkham near charming Wells-next-the-Sea is only 11 miles. Potter around Burnham Market’s independent emporiums or treat your party to a pub supper at The White Horse in Brancaster.
Sleep soundly upstairs. You get a generous double en suite with a roll top and two sunny bedrooms sharing a family bathroom.

Thank you Ilonka for letting us stay in your wonderful cottage. You have thought of everything in detail for your guests. The cottage feels like a home away from home. We have had a brilliant time walking, running, eating and relaxing in your beautiful home. It is one of the best places we've ever stayed (and we've been to a few places!). It's a shame we have to return to the real world today.

Celebrating Granny's 75th birthday" A very special weekend in your beautiful home and in the beach hut too. The weather was perfect; the house and hut were perfect. You have thought of everything. The children thoroughly enjoyed the Rope Walk at Houghton Hall. Thank you for everything - including the celebratory treats!

Location
The neighbourhood
The village has a duck pond, a park, an excellent chippy and a shop (open seven days a week), otherwise nip to Brancaster or Burnham Market (both five miles) for more choice. Brancaster also has a beach, other beaches to note are: Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Hunstanton. RSPB Titchwell Marsh (5.5 miles) has incredible birdlife and NT Blakeney Point (17 miles) is the place to spot basking seals.
Local points of interest from Ilonka Lenzen
- Sextons Place will be your cosy yet luxurious home from home, a place to fully recharge, relax and explore over 40 miles of stunning coastline with Blue Flag beaches, coastal paths, museums, stately homes and pretty villages. Something for all the family!
- Head to nearby Burnham Market, one of Norfolks most picturesque villages, with independent boutique shops, delicious delis, artisan bakeries, picture-card perfect pubs and cafes and award-winning dining experiences, all clustered around a village green.
- Two of our favourite nearby beaches are Brancaster and Holkham, where they filmed Shakespeare in Love. Holkham is romantic and wild with unspoilt stretches of sand, while Brancaster is family friendly and great for picnics and building sandcastles.
- For culture visit Holkham Hall with its 25,000 acre estate and plethora of wildlife, Houghton Hall for its outdoor sculptures and exhibitions and Sandringham Estate which is the much-loved country retreat of the British Royal Family since 1862.
- There are so many ways to explore the Norfolk coastline, from walking to cycling, paddle boarding, golf, crabbing, boat trips to visit the seals or sailing around the creeks. The choice is endless and we are always happy to provide our recommendations.
- A trip to Wells is always a must, an old harbour town renowned for the finest fish and chips on the coast and iconic colourful beach huts. Our hut, Upper Deck, is also available for day hire through The Happy Huts which we can arrange for you separately..
