The Experience
From the start, there’s a sense of occasion here. Along the half-mile drive you’ll meander, pulling in beside the buffed sandstone stable-house – creeper-covered, gothic-arched, and still part of the centuries-old Brinkburn estate. The restored Augustinian priory lies just beyond.
The waters tinkle beside your terrace and the grounds are yours to explore – swim, roam the woods, or amble with Rover along the riverside (up to three dogs are welcome), looking for otters. The Stables sleeps seven (eight at a push), and indoors there’s a surprise – everything’s fresh, white and clutter-free, especially the showpiece glass-walled kitchen, big enough to dine a dozen and with a bountiful welcome hamper.
At bedtime, choose a tome from the bookcase, take the stone stairs to your beamy bedroom, and drift away on dreams of monk-like seclusion.

The rooms were beautiful and venue equipped with everything we needed. The team left some lovely touches to make our stay even more special and it was really appreciated. Thank you Brinkburn

Beautiful location and once shown where the fishing beat was, was able to enjoy the fly fishing. The Stables is a beautiful holiday property with a very high standard of furnishings and fittings which made for a very comfortable stay. Fortunately we only bought one car as the parking is a little limited if there are guests staying in the adjoining property. Our gratitude to both the owners and housekeepers for their prompt communication prior to and throughout our stay.

Location
The neighbourhood
The Coquet valley is a find – secretive and sylvan, with its own walking trail, St Oswald’s Way, shadowing the river eastward to the wilderness beaches of Alnmouth Bay. It guides you across the fields to the Angler’s Arms at Weldon. Forage for your holiday larder in characterful Rothbury, four miles west and busy with butchers, bakers and craft emporia. The National Trust’s Cragside is there, too.
Local points of interest from Mark Fenwick
- Brinkburn was once a large country estate and features its own stunning 12th-century Priory Church and Manor House.
- A 5-minute stroll will take you to the Coquet River, woodlands and the hill fort of Brinkburn which looks out across to the Cheviot Hills.
- The Running Fox Longframlington is a must for delicious afternoon teas and the most enormous bacon sandwiches.
- Your choice of six luxurious holiday cottages for 2-6 guests each. Available to book together for large gatherings or rent out individually.
- We pride ourselves on a relaxed and homely affair in five-star accommodation. It's the ideal escape for couples, large groups or anyone hunting for dog-friendly holidays.

Introducing
Mark Fenwick
Mark Fenwick grew up at Brinkburn and moved to London to work as an interior designer. After a few forays into various careers, he returned north to run his new venture at Brinkburn, which hosts weddings as well as holiday cottages.
Perfect venue in every way. On Friday all the ladies gathered for drinks and nibbles- plenty of space for indoor entertaining. So beautiful for our wedding day - an intimate and compact venue. On the Sunday we entertained approx 30 - 40 guests - the terrace was just perfect and the sun shone down. Such an idyllic setting. We even saw a sheep giving birth on the hillside opposite - such stunning scenery. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners/hosts. It certainly met all of our expectations.
