The Experience
Inside is traditional with well-chosen antiques, some beautiful original prints and paintings, wood carvings and ceramics. The house has underfloor heating and thick insulation so you’ll be cosy if you can’t get outdoors and there is a Smart TV, good board games and a cupboard full of toys for children. A thoughtful kitchen has proper sharp knives and plenty of gear, including a good Barista machine.
A welcome hamper brims with biscuits, bread and cake from local producers and you’ll find basics for cooking in the cupboards. Bedrooms, one master king-size double and a twin (with an extra truckle bed if needed), are uncluttered, peaceful and light; the shared family bathroom has a large bath and a rain shower and some lovely mosaic tiles.
The garden wraps around two sides of the house and there are table and chairs for al fresco meals plus a grassed area. At dusk you should see barn and tawny owls flying around the mature trees.

This is a delightful property, situated in a lovely secluded garden. The owners have made the house very welcoming and there is everything necessary for a holiday away from home, all contributing to a very relaxing stay. The vases of fresh flowers and generous welcome gifts all add to the delight. We would highly recommend a visit to Trillow House; it is a real gem! Being close to Ludlow, with its beautiful architecture and good restaurants is an extra bonus, as is the walking countryside which it sits in. The Long Mynd at Church Stretton is very attractive and the town is worth a visit too.

Trillow House is truly a beautiful place. The house itself has been gorgeously renovated. There is great attention to detail while the atmosphere is very simple. This only serves to heighten the calm one feels in the house. We loved the small sitting room, the gorgeous ‘gothic’ windows, the fantastic kitchen with sharp knives and beautiful crockery, the wonderful shower, great bed, etc., etc., etc. And all this in a beautiful area close to Ludlow and Wales.

The neighbourhood
Leintwardine, three miles, has two pubs, both very good. Stokesay Castle, four miles, is a 13th-century property. The gem is Ludlow, eight miles, a Georgian market town that fully deserves a visit, to wander, eat and shop. Local points of interest from Sophia
- Tucked away in the glorious Shropshire countryside, eight miles from the market town of Ludlow, Trillow House was originally built as the old School Master’s House in the 1850s to a design by gothic architect AE Perkins.
- The stunning and varied landscape of the Welsh Marches and Shropshire Hills AONB provides limitless walking and mountain biking trails. Hiking on Caer Caradoc and the Long Mynd is accessible from Church Stretton, 12 miles away.
- Nearby trails include The Shropshire Way, Offa’s Dyke, The Herefordshire Trail and the Jack Mytton Way.
- The area is richly populated with atmospheric iron age forts, medieval castles and stately homes. In particular there is National Trust gem, Croft Castle, and the renowned fortified manor house Stokesay Castle just down the road.
- Just eight miles away is foodie heaven Ludlow, described by Country Life as 'the most vibrant small town in the country'. Its 500 listed buildings are mainly Georgian or half-timbered, set within the original 13th-century town walls.
- The Clun Valley is known for its beautiful countryside, charming villages and series of castles and fortified manor houses. Hopton Castle is on the outskirts of the village; the romantic ruins of Clun Castle lie further up the valley.
