Award-winning Aga-cooked breakfasts, double-end baths, orchard, wildlife... Shropshire/Herefordshire countryside to roam too - wonderful!

Read guest comments

Come for a break from clock-watching and a spot of Shropshire air. Large bedrooms delight with the comfiest mattresses on king-size beds, scented candles, antiques, books, games and double-end roll top baths – one under a west facing window. Debbie and Craig's Aga-cooked breakfasts have won awards and include eggs from ‘the ladies of the orchard’. Wander through the apple, plum and pear trees, find a motte and bailey, strike out for a long, leafy hike. Craig and Debbie are thoughtful and hugely keen on wildlife (you get binoculars) and this is the perfect place to bring a special person – and a bottle of champagne.

"Stayed in Aragon Suite for two nights. Can't sing its praises highly enough. Very atmospheric with exposed wooden beams, extremely comfortable four poster bed, well and appropriately furnished separate sitting room with variety of teas and coffee on tap. Hosts Debbie and Craig have thought of all the little extras, even the muffin tin seems to replenish itself. Breakfasts superb and rendered lunch unnecessary. Simply a must if you are staying in this area."

"Splendid place to stay. Beautiful location and a great welcome by Debbie and Craig. Very comfortable bed and room, lovely breakfast with much homegrown and homemade produce. A real treat. Would highly recommend. So refreshing to stay somewhere with so much character and taste, and to which so much thought had evidently been given. Worth every penny and more."

"Once again this time we stayed in the Courthouse Suite which has separate lounge, bedroom and bathroom. It is very spacious and very comfortable. Debbie & Craig are superb hosts and the food they serve is first class both in terms of choice and taste. For breakfast there is a wide choice of cereals, toast, jams and a mouth watering array of hot choices. Once again on arrival we had Debbie's supper platter which consist of local pate, ham, and cheese with homemade pickles and bread and a choice of crisps and crackers and of course her home made muffins. This is an absolute must! The property is"

"This is our third visit this summer and as always it was absolutely fabulous. Debbie & Craig always make us feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them. Stayed in the Courthouse Suite which we find excellent.. We had the opportunity to have a home-cooked meal this time, it was superb; the Herefordshire beef was so tender and the vegetables were so fresh they were almost still growing on the plate., followed by delicious home baked apple crumble and ice cream. We took the opportunity to spend a quiet day on site this time and it was idyllic."

"We would highly recommend staying at Walford Court, Debbie and Craig are very warm, friendly hosts and they make you feel very much at home. Our suite was very comfortable with all our needs catered for. Our pre-booked, evening meal was excellent as were the breakfasts we had each morning (including eggs from Debbie's girls!). If visiting the area again we will definitely stay at Walford Court."

"Just spent a lovely weekend at Walford Court - a very romantic B&B near Ludlow. Highly recommended if you want some great food, comfy beds, romantic atmosphere, wood burning stoves and very friendly and warm hosts in Debbie and Craig! The breakfast is fantastic - varied and made with fresh ingredients. We were treated to home-made lemon curd and freshly baked bread on top of a fine range of cooked options. Make sure you try the Blue Cheese tatty scones for breakfast and treat yourself to a home-cooked meal when you get there (phone up in advance or ask on booking). We will be back!"

"Very relaxing stay with such hospitable people in a lovely old house. Lots of room in our suite for a stay of four days in dreadful weather. Would definitely recommend both the area and this B&B, with comforting home-cooked evening meals too! "

"What a fantastic place from the warm welcome recieved from Debbie things just got better and better. The Room(we stayed in Aragon Suite) was absolutely amazing. The four poster bed was amazingly comfy and the roll top bath in the bedroom was a fantastic feature. On arrival into the room we were left some very tasty muffins and real milk in the fridge(great for keeping the Champagne cool) for our tea, none of your UHT!. If you are stopping for any length of time there are plenty of books and games to keep you amused. We booked and evening meal and the beef along with home grown veg was delicious. The room was so warm as very kindly Craig had left on the heating overnight, nice touch seeing it was -8 outside. And finally the breakfast, what can we say. The Golden yolked eggs from Debbie's girls and local bacon and sausages were so tasty. Thanks Debbie and Craig for making our one night stay for our Anniversary so special. We will be back and recommend any body reading this to do the same. Must be one of the best B+B's in the land."

"My husband & I stayed at Walford Court for 6 nights at the end of September. It is a magical place, full of 16C history & tastefully restored by Craig & Debbie. The Courthouse suite was perfect, large bedroom with exceptionally comfy bed & lots of storage space, sitting room with settee, armchair, coffee table & tea/coffee making facilities, a small fridge with real milk & bottled water supplied - also a cake tin which mysteriously refills with Debbie's fantastic apple muffins each day!! A lovely bathroom with large rolltop bath and I was wishing for rotten weather so we could justify staying in and just enjoying the suite!! The breakfasts were wonderful, from warm stewed fruit with yoghurt, nuts & seeds to start through the full range of everything cooked, including a great veggie selection for my spouse. Debbie cooks a great evening meal most nights which we availed ourselves of, ordering at breakfast time and salivating till we got back to eat it!! We loved every minute of our stay & really didn't want to leave - Craig, Debbie & son Callum made us feel like honoured guests and we will most definitely be returning."
