The Experience

Seductively near RSPB Minsmere, medieval castles and the glorious Heritage coast. The evening sun pours into the back of this contemporary cottage with butter yellow walls; you are on the edge of the village so all is quiet with an orchard behind and a bird-filled garden for tea and cake. No sitting room, but easy chairs in your pretty bedroom face views. Caroline is a good cook and breakfast is delicious (try her kedgeree and homemade jams). Snape Maltings for music, Southwold for the famous pier, Aldeburgh with its shingle beach, boats, fun shops and good places to eat – all are close by. Holly the labrador adds to the charm.

Reviews

We stayed at Willow Tree Cottage from 4-7 April. Caroline Youngson and the lovely Holly the Dog were very welcoming with tea and homemade cake. The cottage and bedroom were clean and nicely decorated, the shower was strong and everything you could have wanted had been thought of and provided by Caroline. The breakfast was delicious (again with homemade jams and marmalade.) Holly had been trained not to be in the breakfast room and so was not a nuisance. We had dinner twice in the very good village pub and enjoyed our visit. We are used to a large bed, but the bed is a normal double.

We stayed at Willow Tree Cottage for three nights. Caroline...and Holly the Labrador... were so friendly. It is a lovely, cosy cottage and pretty garden, in a quiet location. The guest bedroom was beautifully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The breakfasts were delicious. There is a pretty pub close by for an evening meal. Southwold is not far away and and Aldeburgh is close by, both with beautiful beaches and definitely worth a visit. We would without doubt stay again with Caroline if we are lucky enough to return to the area.

Caroline was a very thoughtful and welcoming host and her assistant Holly the dog was a joy. Really enjoyed our chats. The room was charming and comfortable and the area very peaceful.

Michaela, Ipswich

We had a wonderful 3 night stay here, remarkably comfortable room, with pleasant surroundings. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, the fruit pots are a real treat! The scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toast was superb, and set us up for the day. Nothing is too much trouble for Caroline, she is a wonderful host, and Holly the Labrador is great fun to have around. Willow Tree Cottage is genuinely one of the very best B&Bs that we have stayed in, and we will book again as soon as we can!

Daniel, Derby

Willow Tree Cottage is set in a lovely, quiet, country location without being too remote from local facilities. Destinations such as Aldeburgh, Snape, Southwold and Dunwich are all within easy reach. The welcome from Caroline & Holly is wonderful and breakfasts are always varied and excellent. The accommodation is comfortable & cosy, with lovely views of the garden and the orchard.

We had a delightful stay with Caroline and Holly. Willow Tree Cottage is very well placed for birdwatchers and opera lovers alike. Caroline’s breakfasts are healthy, delicious and with attention to detail. The room is very comfortable with all you could need. We had our cycles with us which Caroline kindly stored for us. We would thoroughly recommend Willow Tree Cottage and hope to visit again. Caroline and Holly.

Caroline is very welcoming and helpful. She kindly met me from my train and took me to pick up a hired car. Her house is very comfortable, it was the perfect base for me and I enjoyed my stay very much.

We have just made our third visit to Willow Tree Cottage - so it goes without saying that we really, really enjoy our stays here. Caroline is the perfect host - friendly, generous, a pleasure to talk to and on top of all of this, she has a very loveable dog, Holly. We enjoy the peaceful atmosphere - a pretty garden filled with flowers and bird song and the room is spacious and comfortable. There's a great breakfast too - what's not to like! We will definitely visit again.

Sarah, London

This was a great base for a visit to the Minsmere RSPB Sanctuary and to Southwold. Caroline welcomed us with tea and cake straight from the oven, served on the patio in the afternoon sunshine, then showed us to a comfortable double room overlooking the garden. She helped us find local places for dinner, gave us an excellent breakfast, and entertained us with friendly conversation and witty asides. It was a pleasure staying at Willow Tree Cottage. This is not a historic house with a spiral staircase or a moat, but it is spacious, comfortable and very well presented. We are happy to recommend.

Simon and Cathy, Brighton

A welcoming pot of tea with a pastry. An extremely comfortable room with all facilities. A freshly prepared & ample breakfast. And a kindly and attentive hostess. What more can one expect?

Robert, London

We loved staying at Willow Tree Cottage, it was so quiet, relaxing and comfortable. Caroline was very generous and went out of her way to ensure we were well looked after. I can certainly recommend her B&B and hope to return again one day.

Helen, Whitland

The room is very comfortable, with a good bed and facilities. It is up a steep staircase. Caroline is very welcoming and helpful. Holly, the dog, is also very friendly. We were offered a good choice for breakfast and needed to write down our choices for the evening before. Finding the address was helped using Google maps and Streetview. Belvedere Close has a very narrow entrance off Main Road, Kelsale.

David, Reading

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Willow Tree Cottage. The room was very comfortable and Caroline was an excellent hostess. We also enjoyed the company of Holly the Labrador! Highly recommended.

Diane, Kidderminster

I much enjoyed my week's stay. Carolyn was an attentive and very generous and kindly host. I felt very much at home t=with her. Her cottage is a haven of peace and was an excellent centre for the remoter parts of the Suffolk coast I wished to explore.

Veronica, Horsham

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in this lovely cottage with our delightful host Caroline. She made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for her. The cottage is immaculate and the accommodation is very comfortable.

Howard and Jennifer, Chichester

Very pleasant short stay of 4 days with Caroline and Holly the Labrador. A warm welcome, fine accommodation, excellent healthy breakfasts. Enjoyed sitting in the garden and chatting like old friends. Excellent weather and good information on what to see and where to eat. Thank you Caroline.

Andrew and Ruth, London

We had a lovely 3 night stay at quiet secluded Willow Tree Cottage. Caroline is a friendly and knowledgeable host who welcomed us with tea and home made chocolate buns on our arrival. Our double bedroom was very comfortable and equipped with all the facilities and toiletries you would expect - and incredibly clean. Healthy breakfasts of cereals, fresh fruit salad/yoghurt, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or kedgeree (on request) were excellent. All the top tourist attractions of Southwold, Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings, Orford and Framlingham Castles are a short drive away. Perfect 3 days.
