The Experience
Set back from the main road, up a neatly gravelled drive, is this shining extension to the owner’s home. Inside the open-plan space is warm, stylish, airy and light, with a sweep of oak floor heated underfoot and lovely high beams above. Kick back on the suave leather sofa and Eames lounge chairs with a good book. Play a movie on the huge, Smart TV.
Behind a white muslin curtain is the bedroom space with a king-size bed. The shower room is smart and the kitchen is handy for knocking up an omelette or making a Nespresso. There are at least three good pubs within walking distance if you don’t fancy cooking.
Birdwatchers will be happy, Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve is close. Glorious Goodwood is a 15-minute drive, the beach is a 15-minute stroll, and the Lamb Inn is opposite. A brilliant base for those who like to get out and about on one of the least developed stretches of the Sussex coast.

We were very lucky to have sunny weather to make our weekend at the Dray House perfect. Comfortable, stylish, warm, with kind and welcoming hosts. We did not realise how beautiful it was around Pagham, and so peaceful (at least it was in November).

I loved the Dray House and Lois is a great host! the space is beautiful, decorated with excellent taste and all the facilities and details you may wish for and more. The kitchen is fully equipped should you wish to cook the locally produces veg you can find 5 minutes away. The house is in a great location to explore the local beach or any of the many footpaths around. I will definitely return! Many thanks for your hospitality!

It is the second time we have stayed at the Dray House and I am sure there will be more visits. This is the most stylish house!!! So tastefully decorated, wonderful art on the walls and the friendliest of owners in Lois. It is bright and airy, very well equipped and immaculately clean. We would most definitely recommend.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're in the village of Nyetimber which has three good pubs, a supermarket, and a tea room. It's a 15-minute walk to the stony beach - seaside shops, ice cream parlours, 50s vibe, and best of all not too busy. The Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve (15-minute drive) is an important wetland for wildlife - spot black-tailed godwits and egrets. Chichester, West Wittering and Arundel are all close.
Local points of interest from Mike & Lois Hendry
- Unashamedly targeted at the luxury end of the self-catering market, The Dray House enjoys the patronage of the discerning guest. With its light and spacious bright contemporary feel which is warm and cosy all year round.
- During Roman times Pagham Harbour was a primary seaport for Southern England which continued until devastated by a huge storm in 1341. Today, a Local Nature Reserve, Pagham Harbour has become an internationally important refuge for migrant birds.
- The Cathedral City of Chichester is close by, with its wide pedestrianised streets, excellent variety of shops and restaurants, acclaimed Festival Theatre and Pallant House Gallery.
- Conveniently located for Goodwood Festival of Speed in July & the Festival of Revival in September.
- Secure ample gated parking, with CCTV coverage. Garaging available on request.

Introducing
Mike & Lois Hendry
Over the years Mike and Lois have lovingly restored their home, The Maltings, and The Dray House, to a very high standard. They have chosen some interesting modern artwork for the walls and have really thought about what makes a place comfortable and easy for guests to use. They are happy to advise and are equally happy to let you get on with things yourself.
This is a really special place to stay. Attention to detail was second to none so a beautiful property to visit. Spacious, spotless and luxurious. We'd happily return.
