Carlton Barns

We had a wonderful week’s stay with Denise and David. Welcoming and friendly. The accommodation is of the highest order and all in tip top condition. Comfortable bed too. And we indulged ourselves and had Denise’s superb breakfasts. The location is ideal for both the Dales and the Moors together with easy excess to a range of NT, HH and EH properties. We so enjoyed our stay.

Had a lovely stay in this very quiet, comfortable accommodation. Wonderful location just outside Thirsk, very easy access to A1, Ripon, Harrogate, York, N York Moors, Northallerton. Many NT & EH properties within easy reach. Well equipped barn conversion with very friendly owners and gorgeous Gertie the dog.

Having just returned from a 3 night stay, we highly recommend Carlton Barns. The open plan kitchen, dining and sitting areas are spacious and the owners Denise and David encourage guest to use the seating in the courtyard and in their spacious garden. One bedroom is suitable for people with limited mobility and Denise can answer questions regarding your specific needs. Denise and David can provide excellent breakfasts on request.

We have just returned from a 4-night stay and would highly recommend Carlton Barns. Rooms are comfortable and well-equipped and the outside environment is spacious. Denise and David are welcoming and generous hosts. We were four adults and one dog and it was helpful to close off each bedroom to provide pooch-free areas. The picturesque village is a perfect setting and ideal base for a wide range of visits to suit every taste. We enjoyed plenty of choice from local eating places and booked one of Denise' excellent breakfasts so the self-catering element was certainly not onerous either!

I had an amazing time at Carlton Barns early this year. The accommodation is spacious and well appointed. Very comfortable bedding . One of the best apartments I have used.Denise and David are brilliant hosts.I would happily recommend if you are visiting Yorkshire.

Visited Felton Barns early this year. The accommodation was great. It was very spacious with a lounge dining kitchen area , two lovely bedrooms and bathroom and shower room. Denise and David are excellent hosts. I would recommend this holiday let and would happily visit again.

We had a fantastic fortnight and the accommodation was of a very good standard. Denise and David were very welcoming and gave us great advice on what to see and do in the area. This part of the country has so much to offer and our two weeks there left us wanting to come back for more.

A very comfortable and well appointed place in a great location for visiting Harrogate, Rippon, the North York Moors etc. Very friendly and helpful hosts. We had a great time despite all the weather could throw at us!

This is a lovely property in a quaint village with a great pub. Fantastic design and a beautiful garden. There was a warm welcome from Denise and David who looked after our every need. It is in a good position for exploring beautiful Yorkshire towns and countryside. We loved Newby Hall and gardens. A relaxing place to stay - we thoroughly enjoyed our 6 days.

Had a delightful three night stay in the very recently created self contained suite. Everything we needed was there, if you wanted to cook there was a comprehensive kitchen dining room with large lounge attached, all the equipment was modern and spotlessly clean, there was coffee & tea provided along with milk in the fridge & Denise would provide you with whatever you asked for including delicious home made bread. The en suite shower room was modern with a double shower, toilet & hand basin, all spotlessly clean. Denise & David obviously had hight standards. The bed was very comfy.

We have just enjoyed a very comfortable stay at Carlton Barns, which has recently been tastefully refurbished to a high standard by the most welcoming hosts, Denise & David. Sandhutton village is well located for exploring the surrounding countryside, market towns and numerous historic sites & the excellent village pub/restaurant, the Kings Arms, is a less than 5 minute stroll should you not wish to make use of the splendid self-catering facilities. In summary, we doubt you’ll be disappointed by the warm welcome, the property décor/contents or its location. Strongly recommended.

We had a delightful 4-night stay at Carlton House. It was a pleasure to meet Denise and David who, despite the Covid restrictions, made our short holiday welcoming and comfortable. The setting is very tranquil and a good base for exploring the North York Moors. Highly recommended - we hope we can stay again one day. Jeff and Fran, Cardiff.

You'll receive a very warm welcome here - owners Denise and David are a delight to chat to and will make your stay as comfortable as possible. Breakfasts look delicious and their garden is fun to explore - there's a lot to see in the local area too so you won't be bored here.

Everything here is classy and understated and welcoming--reflective of hosts Denise and David. They loaned us their maps for our adventures and made us reservations at the village pub, a gem. (We ate their both nights of our stay) Gertie, their sweet, shy terrier, added a homey touch. Delicious breakfast, too. We feel fortunate to have discovered Carlton House and would love to be able to stay here again.

A really welcoming place, and a lovely comfortable, stylishly decorated room (the Tractor Shed), with lots of space and a very good bed. Super bathroom, too. The gardens are delightful -- good for quiet reading. An excellent breakfast in a beautiful dining room. I'd stay there again like a shot.

We were warmly welcomed by our hosts Denise and David into our comfortable, spotlessly clean accommodation, set in a delightful courtyard. Every comfort catered for and delicious breakfast with homemade produce. Highly recommended and we shall definitely be back.

A real find, very comfortable, wonderful hosts, friendly and informative. Excellent pub for food 5 mins walk. Would book again.

What a super place to stay. A very warm welcome on an October evening from Denise and David, a lovely room and excellent breakfast . Homemade bread and jams, beautifully cooked english breakfast, fresh tea and coffee, what more could anyone want? We wish we could have stayed longer.

Carlton Barns is a truly exceptional B & B. Perfectly located, beautifully converted to the highest standard of comfort and the best breakfasts we have ever found - all at a very reasonable price.
