The Experience
A stunning spot, right on the edge of the Peaks. Charming owners Jim and Mary, who live here, have done a grand job converting four cottages, including your listed milking parlour. The sitting room is flooded with light, the feel is solid and homely, sofas are of the completely squishy variety, views are glorious, and games, books and DVDs keep everyone happy.
The kitchen is filled with all you need for a leisurely supper round the farmhouse table, or a picnic by the barbecue hut outside. A biomass boiler gives you piping hot water, powerful showers and underfloor heating. A hot tub under the stars is shared and there’s a day spa to ease your limbs.
Upstairs you’ll find woollen blankets over feather duvets, deep set windows and more green views. There are stunning walks in any direction with footpaths starting from the door and a good pub just a couple of miles away.

Birch cottage was lovely. We had stayed in the Farmhouse before which was also excellent but we were a smaller group this time so we booked Birch cottage. Everything was splendid as always - clean, tidy, organized and felt very luxury. The cottage feels old and modern at the same time and has all the conveniences necessary, and more. And of course, the jacuzzi was the highlight of each day. Our girls and we enjoyed it a lot. A good break right before restarting the school year, it was all we wanted and we are very happy with the visit.

We absolutely loved Smallshaw Cottages and Spa. The accommodation is really spacious and super comfortable. We loved the facilities - tennis court, hot tub, bbq house and we also had a great massage at the spa. The surroundings are beautiful and there are lots of things to do nearby. We enjoyed mountain biking, hiking and visiting The Heights of Abraham. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here and hope to return.

Introducing
Mary & Jim Booth
This is Jim's family farm. He and Mary and their dogs live in the farmhouse and they've renovated all the derelict old buildings to create the holiday cottages. They love welcoming guests to their special part of the world.
Excellent venue for birthday in the midst of beautiful countryside. My first hot tub experience which was great. Hardly saw our hosts, but when we needed them they were quick to act. My very minor comments (certainly not complaints !) :- Ways to contact the hosts could have been made clearer. We paid for the BBQ serviced option that we assumed meant leaving the washing up of plates and cutlery, but we weren't sure. A clearer definition of this option would have been welcome. I only checked my e-mails after leaving so missed instructions re bed linen etc. These could have been given earlier.
