The Experience
Birdsong accompanies your arrival at this wonderful Georgian family home where original features abound. It’s surrounded by acres of mature gardens and its bright rooms have huge beds and superlative views (for seclusion, bagsy the charming Scullery studio).
A grand piano and warming fire await in the drawing room. Return from a round of world-class golf or Wild Atlantic Way walk to swap stories over home-baked afternoon tea. Breakfast arrives à table from the kitchen garden. Savour fresh fruits, compôtes (perhaps rhubarb and lime), homemade bread, honey and preserves and tuck into free-range eggs with garden chives or the succulent sausages of Angela’s Ulster fry.
Tick off National Trust treasures, rotate between top-notch restaurants, have tranquil strolls around the grounds and sit by a roaring fire.

What an amazing family experience we had, arriving to a unprecedented welcome from Angela including afternoon tea of homemade scones and shortbread, beautiful gardens and fabulous rooms. Breakfast was another highlight for us. We will be returning to this haven of peace, tranquility and hospitality in Co Derry.

Angela made us more than welcome at the lovely Dromore House. From the initial booking to departure everything ran smoothly and nothing was too much trouble. The period house is beautifully decorated and comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious, made from locally sourced produce. Recommendations were provided for local restaurants and places to visit. A great place to stay when visiting Northern Ireland.

A warm welcome from our hostess Angela with homemade scones and tea in the drawing room. Angela gave us useful information on the area with recommendations for evening meals. We were visiting Northern Ireland with our friends for the first time so our first impression was second to none. A wonderful choice at breakfast set us up for the day. We were house guests in a wonderful environment.

Location
The neighbourhood
You’re minutes from Coleraine and 10 miles from an iconic coastal landscape. Don’t miss the Giant’s Causeway, the dramatic Mussenden Temple, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the myth-swirled Glens of Antrim. Golfers can play at Royal Portrush then try the town harbour’s dining scene or Harry’s Shack at blue-flag Portstewart beach, The Water Margin in Coleraine or the Bushmills distillery’s atmospheric restaurant to sup in style.
Local points of interest from Angela Rolston
- Murlough Bay is a secluded and beautiful cove (protected by the National Trust) close to Ballycastle and Fair Head. Step back in time with a gourmet picnic and take in the very great beauty of the place....
- The Giants Causeway is a geological wonder and N Ireland's first UNESCO world Heritage site. Together with the charming Carrick a Reed Rope Bridge, this makes a superb start to seeing what the Causeway Coast has to offer.
- Meals and restaurants are accessible - all within a 10 minutes drive.
- Rathlin Island offers a world away from it all....a haven for seals and puffins, a day of remote reflection and excellent hiking. A short boat trip from Ballycastle - a rewarding day out in good weather with an excellent packed lunch.
- For Game of Thrones enthusiasts - visit The Dark Hedges which was used in the filming of the series and also Portstewart Strand, Downhill Beach, Larrybane, Ballintoy, Fair Head and Murlough Bay for a sneek peek into the world of GOT filming.
- A must see is the alluring Dunluce Castle - one of the most picturesque and romantic of Irish Castles - the castle ruins dating back to 16th /17th century. Combine the trip with a visit to the famous 400 yr old Bushmills Whiskey distillery -

Introducing
Angela Rolston
Angela and Peter moved here in 1999 and are always delighted to welcome people into their family home. She ran a wine business abroad. Peter’s grandfather, Joseph Shaw, brought greyhound racing to Ireland – thus the dog motifs. Angela prepares local food to historic family recipes for her guests, and she runs Dromore House with an emphasis on ‘country house not hotel’. Plans to convert the estate’s listed outbuildings into cottages are afoot.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dromore House. Angela is an amazing host. She was very friendly and welcoming with really good local information about sightseeing and restaurants. The scones and tea on arrival, and the breakfast, were delicious. The house is full of character. Really lovely.
