Willie’s Chipperkyle exceeded my expectations. I loved the elegant Georgian manor house, decorated with family heirlooms. It was comfy, luxurious as well as characterful—a genuine home. The food was top notch. Amazing and filling breakfasts and dinners (latter on request). Willie was lovely—a fount of knowledge, warm and humorous. I would highly, highly recommend this place.

This grand, historic and tastefully presented farm house was a wonderful find on Sawday’s guide to Dumfries and Galloway. Willie the owner was a perfect and welcoming host and his advanced culinary skills demonstrated in the delicious dinner, a very comfortable nights sleep, a sumptuous locally sourced breakfast whilst enjoying the views of beautiful surrounding countryside all add to our unreserved recommendations to stay at Chipperkyle.

A wonderful stay. Made to exceptionally feel welcome and like it was our own home. A beautiful setting added to the stay. William couldn’t have done more and we look forward to returning!

A beautiful home, in a gorgeous part of the country. Willie made us very welcome and supplied us with two good and tasty evening meals and lovely breakfasts. He gave us plenty of local information for us to be entertained fair weather or foul. Great spot.

We loved our stay at Chipperkyle, only wish we could have stayed longer. Willy was a very welcoming host, and made us a beautiful breakfast. What we loved most was the deep sense of peace and tranquility, not a single sound of traffic and the modern world intruded, and we slept so well.

We spent two nights at Chipperkyle and wished it could have been longer. Willie is so welcoming that you feel like you are visiting a friend in their lovely home. He is full of information and stories. The spacious Scottish countryside is peaceful and the house is beautifully restored, warm and comfortable. Willie is an excellent cook and his home-cooked dinner and breakfast, all made with local produce, are delicious. Highly recommended.

We had the most wonderful stay at Chipperkyle. Arriving as two exhausted cyclists and leaving as recharged and recovered guests. We felt immediately welcome and at home. We had an incredible dinner which even we couldn’t finish. A cat on the lap and soccer on the TV while discussing all the different journeys we all had been to was just the cherry on top!

We had a wonderful overnight stop at Chipperkyle and wished we could have stayed longer. Willies hospitality was very welcome after a day of driving. The house and surroundings are very beautiful and tranquil. Our evening meal and breakfast were delicious. We will definitely return .

Willie has the most beautiful house in a fantastic setting. He is the perfect host and my husband and I had a great time. We opted to have evening meal and had dinner on the terrace both nights and one breakfast outside too. Willie is a great cook, who caters for all diets, we advise you to go and stay there, it's a great place you do not want to miss out on. We stay at Sawdays everywhere and this is a great example.

During a trip to Dumfries and Galloway we had the absolute pleasure of staying in the charming Chipperkyle. The location is excellent for exploring the area; the accommodation is beautiful and spacious with stunning views and garden; Willie is a wonderful host, very welcoming and helpful, and we would also highly recommend his excellent home cooking with locally sourced produce. We enjoyed it so much we immediately booked to return again.

A beautiful house in very peaceful countryside, Willie was most concerned for our comfort and the opportunity for us to relax, which we certainly did! The bed was amazingly comfortable ensuring a really good nights sleep. Willie had lots of ideas regarding places to visit while in the area, and it was lovely to sit in the house grounds enjoying the birdsong and the beautiful garden. Breakfast was delicious with produce sourced locally. A highlight on a rainy day was a trip to Wigtown and its many book shops, taking advantage of tea & scrumptious cakes and coming home with several books!

Chipperkyle is a beautiful period house and Willie is the perfect host: friendly, engaging and providing delightful accommodation and food (dinner & breakfast) ably assisted by the lovely Tilda. We could not have enjoyed our stay more - other than to have an extra night or two! Total relaxation and old world charm combined.100% recommended.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Chipperkyle. William Dickson is a welcoming and generous host. We had a delicious meal on our first night. The breakfast was tasty too. All food was served in a beautiful dining room. The bedroom was comfortable with views of countryside. Lots of thoughtful details like a tea tray with biscuits and a choice of teas. An inviting bathroom with soft towels. William is great at sharing his knowledge of the local area. This is a grand house. We felt relaxed and refreshed. Thank you William.

A piece of living history, lovingly preserved by a delightful owner. Chipperkyle is as far removed from the Premier Inn experience as is possible - and thank goodness for that. A gem of a place, rather hidden away, and in a part of Scotland whose physical charms are present, though understated. For those who care for individuality and adventure. An experience to be treasured.

A gem of a place. Willie is a great host, full of friendly helpful advice. The room was spacious and welcoming. Willie has lots of great stories to tell. He obviously loves the house, the land and the locals. He will make you feel very welcome. Plenty of parking! A great vibe.

We spent a delightful one night stay at Chipperkyle en route to the Western Isles. Willie is a charming, warm and friendly host and the house is relaxed and comfortable. A hearty breakfast and genuine interest in sharing places to visit on our route north set us up for the day.

Fascinating historic house in rolling Galloway countryside. The host gave us a warm welcome and provides fine dining and breakfasts with fresh, local ingredients. Every comfort provided for including the fine sitting room with a log fire on a cold, wet day. Well away from any traffic noise but still convenient for access to all major routes. We’ll be back!

A very last minute booking but we were made very welcome by Willie. He produced a delicious evening meal for us with little notice. It was a delightful evening spent with his other guests. We will definitely be back.
