The Experience
A sense of restorative calm pervades in this untamed slice of the Highlands. This charming 18th-century manse is set in a generous garden bordered with mature trees. It faces Loch Alsh with wide-open views to the Isle of Skye. Come to slow down, find beauty in the stillness or hit the coast path and walk for miles.
Owned by the couple behind interiors brand ANTA, expect signature Scottish wall fabrics and a stylistic blend of antique and contemporary furniture, earthy tones, family art, mirrors and ceramics. There’s heaps of space for everyone to find a quiet spot. Kids will love the cosy den, grown-ups will hang out in the sunny family room opening to the garden.
Cook on the electric Aga or gas stove in the annexe then come together around the big wooden dining table. Bedrooms share three bathrooms and vary from grand to cosy. Some have sea views, while one features a freestanding clawfoot tub. Others are great for little ones.

Location
The neighbourhood
The house is tucked down a half-mile private drive with easy access to the water for paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming. The closest village Balmacara is 1.5 miles for a basics shop and a hotel with a sea view restaurant. There's a Co-op in Kyle of Lochalsh (five miles). For eating out try Eilean Donan Castle, Dornie Hotel or Fisherman's Kitchen, all within five miles.
