The Experience
Nothing has been left to chance when it comes to your happiness and comfort. A delightful conversion of an 1800s steading sits in a private courtyard garden: light, bright and airy, it has a spiral staircase to a cosy mezzanine with huge squishy armchairs and a smart TV; downstairs there are books in the library, games to play and a warming log-effect fire.
Starched linen from the White Company and John Lewis, generous fluffy robes and delicious-smelling L’Occitane soaps and lotions ensure a grand night’s sleep with nothing to disturb. There is a fully equipped kitchen but you can order a tasty breakfast hamper, lunch boxes and supper trays if you don’t feel like budging.
The Tweed valley beckons for lovely walks or swims, and you can warm yourselves in the sauna afterwards, or by the wood-burning stove in the open barn. On balmy days enjoy a barbecue, or sit by the firepit in the courtyard garden, a little sun trap. The best thing is you’re the only guests.

Location
The neighbourhood
A local yoga teacher can be arranged to visit for onsite sessions, there is swimming in the Tweed, birdwatching and some wonderful walks from the door through the lush, green valley with its gently rolling hills. Stobo Castle estate is next door with a health spa, there is a good village shop in Broughton (five miles) and Peebles is six miles. Gardens to visit include Dawyck.
Local points of interest from Jules
- Stobo valley sits entirely within a special scenic area. Each view from every angle in the gardens here looks out from one wow to another!
- The River Tweeds winds its way through the bottom of the valley on its way to Berwick upon Tweed. The sides of the Stobo valley are lined with farming land with towering forests higher up.
- Dawck Botanic Gardens are within 1.5 miles, Stobo Castle Spa is within walking distance or a three minute drive. A little further away is Traquair House, the oldest inhabited house in Scotland with maze and ancient yews.
- Our open barn known as "absolute Pijjery' has its own sauna, logs burning stove, Adirondack chairs and chiller cabinet. We have a Californian Yoga teacher who used to work in Santa Monica offering private yoga and fitness.
- The famous John Buchan way is 20 metres from the orchard! There are shorter loops to 'the top loch' which offer jaw dropping moments!
- Then there are the gardens here and the feel good factor Easterknowe shares with every single visitor. Our guests never want to leave which keeps us doing what we do!
