The Experience
Tucked into a tiny hamlet and cocooned by meadows and woodland, this beautifully restored cluster of medieval farm buildings feels ancient and grounded. The blend of mellow stone, soft plaster and minimalist elegance is perfect – the kind of quiet luxury that the French do so well.
Three double rooms open straight to the courtyard, each one private and soothing with polished concrete, clever lighting and artisan touches everywhere. Beds are cloud-soft and dressed in French linens, en suite bathrooms are open and serene with natural, locally made Soin de Soi products and smart Dyson hairdryers.
Outside, nearly five acres of grounds to explore – there’s a pool among the greenery, a pétanque court, a play area, even a little track leading into the hills. The countryside is alive with wildlife. Sit quietly by the pool on a summer evening and you might spot boar, roe deer, foxes and badgers. Drink in the stillness.

Location
The neighbourhood
Walk a Napoleonic road through woods and fields for superb sourdough and pre-ordered sandwiches at the village bakery. Wander the medieval lanes of Sarlat (15-min drive). Visit the gardens at Marqueyssac (30 mins). Spend an afternoon in Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère – eat at Déjeuner sur l'Herbe (20 mins). Marvel at the incredible prehistoric cave paintings of the Grotte de Font-de-Gaume (15 mins).
Local points of interest from Anne-Laure
- The medieval town of Sarlat is 8km away for the market every Wednesday and Saturday.
- Visit the incredible Font-de-Gaume cave (10km), tours are available in English, but you must book 30 days in advance.
- Marqueyssac Garden is my favourite place (30 mins away by car).
- Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère (20 mins) is my favourite village to visit in the area, and a Plus Beaux Villages de France.
