The Experience
The gites are housed in the converted 19th-century barn alongside the owners’ deeply rural Dordogne home. Each has its own path to the sunny shared pool and its own pool furniture but you also have private decking for al fresco meals. Indoors you’ll find much rusticity in old beams, stone and brick alongside beautiful beds with cashmere-filled sprung mattresses. You can book as groups of 10, 12 and 16.
It’s a sustainable sort of place too: solar panels heat water, cleaning products are eco, plastic is discouraged. The setting is absolutely lovely so take time to stand and stare at the stars, listen to the birds, explore the forest and visit Périgord’s markets and castles; ask Annette about their yoga and Pilates courses too.
Your welcome hamper bulges with red wine and rosé, salads, eggs, paté and cheeses, homemade cake and fruit, bread and croissants. You’ll also find all the basics for cooking and if you bring your dog they get treats too.

Thank you Rural Gites for such a lovely relaxing stay at Chadenne - such a beautiful setting. We had lots of fun at the house and in the surrounding areas. Tennis courts at the Centre of Tennis and multisport were a great find. We wil be back and looking forward to exploring more of the area. We loved the wildlife , the amazing skies and the peace and quiet (although we may have disrupted that!!) and of course, the food and wine. Thank you so much for sharing Chadenne with us.

Location
The neighbourhood
There's no light pollution so the stars on clear nights are stunning and there's very little noise to disturb. Bring your bikes and head three miles for a really good bakery which also doubles up as a grocery store and café - you can place orders for the next day's baked goods. There are decent restaurants just a short drive away at Montpon-Ménestérol, which also has a good food market and feels very rural.
Local points of interest from Annette & Peter Marshall
- The ancient Foret de La Double is brimming with flora, fauna such as deer and nightingales, and places for walking and cycling.
- At night the skies are incredibly dark - you can sit outside with some local fizz and watch shooting stars, the Milky Way appear and try to guess where the satellites are travelling to and from. At night you will see the deer grazing, hear owls and bats.
- Rural Gites are family gites with a discreet resident owner who is very happy to help make your holiday special. This quiet Dordogne area is away from crowds but close to Aubeterre sur Dronne and St Emilion with their ancient monuments and history.
- We work closely with our friends at Dordogne Mountain Bike Hire so you can get out and about in the local area on the many cycle routes.
- Rural Gites site is rural and with that comes the tranquillity and calm required for a lovely 'away from it all' holiday in a stylish environment with all of your holiday requirements catered for.
- National Park La Jemaye has free paddle boarding and canoeing and is a great wild swimming location.

Introducing
Annette & Peter Marshall
Annette and Peter have owned the property as a holiday home for many years but recently decided to move here permanently. They have developed the gites themselves - not just along eco lines but also to be exactly the sort of holiday home they used to like coming too with their children when they were younger - hence the generosity of spirit. A great place to come for a stress-free family holiday.
From start to finish, this is one of the most lovely places that we have ever stayed. An attention to small detail both in the apartment and in the grounds which was so very appreciated. We are family with 3 children and Annette's gîte catered wonderfully for all of us. The place's calm atmosphere is heightened by an undertone of unpretentious luxury that we delighted in. We would love to return, can't recommend it more warmly.
