The Experience
The two lovely spaces are at right angles to each other and separated by a low stone wall. Both are beautifully designed with loads of light, incredible sea views and well-equipped cook’s kitchens with plenty of storage and prepping space. Bedrooms are view-filled and extremely comfortable; you’ll hear nought but waves and gulls.
Stroll into Esquibien for croissants and crêpes; hop in the car to Audierne. This popular seaside port has a sailing school in summer and a market on Saturdays and Wednesdays. As for beaches, the Plage de Trescadec, safe for families, is five minutes down the coastal path, with sands, swims, and lifeguards in summer. St Tugen beach, set among wild protected sand dunes, is an hour’s walk but worth every step.
As darkness falls, a myriad of stars appear – light the barbecues, relax on the garden furniture, play badminton or boules, raise a glass of something local and delicious, revel in your holiday.

We think you'll love
- Being so near to wonderful sandy beaches and the sea for picnics, beachcombing, swimming and sunning yourselves
- The very pleasing interiors of both the houses – even if you're stuck indoors with bad weather you'll enjoy watching it all from the windows
- Discovering this authentic part of the Brittany coast, setting off on the coast path, enjoying the long views
You should know
- Only one bathroom in the lighthouse is en suite, and in the Penty there is one family bathroom (but three loos)
- The lighthouse flashes at night but all the bedrooms have blackout blinds
- You're quite secluded, so you can't walk to a bakery and it's a half-hour walk to the nearest restaurant

Le Sémaphore de Lervily gite is a magical place, for all who prefer to have their feet in the water and their head in the stars. Thank you for a brilliant week.

We arrived from a long road trip to a slice of paradise. The property is surrounded by wild Brittany coastline. The house is of solid construction, with excellent amenities. Great views, wood burning stove, heated floors, big, deep bath tub, fully equipped kitchen, etc. all you need to unplug from the world, & dream. If you do want to say plugged in, there is a sturdy wifi, and nice entertainment choices on the large television screens. Long walks on stormy, coastal paths, drives into nearby historic villages, and good food everywhere. Jean-Yves thought of everything, so you don't have to.

This house is a fantastic place, both inside and outside. On entering the house you are welcomed by great interior architecture and design, with light flooding the whole house. Then you see the spectacular view of the sea. The nature of this part of France is the changing weather conditions, which means the sea is permanently changing, smooth and calm one day and angry and violent the next day - it makes for excellent viewing from the house, or from the nearby coastal path (50 yards). We even experienced the stunning sight of dophins swimming by one calm evening. It is all fantastic.

Location
The neighbourhood
The Pointe de Lervily is only 15km from the Pointe du Raz – Brittany's very own Land's End. Walk the coastal path (the glorious GR34 runs past the door), swim, surf, and watch out for currents. In Audierne (4km) you can stock up, eat out and learn to sail, or join summer's trippers on a boat to the Île de Sein. It’s as wild as Brittany gets, and you can spear fish, crab and dive.
Local points of interest from Jean-Yves Huitric
- You're a few mins drive away from one of Brittany's most famous landmarks, the Pointe du Raz, a rocky outcrop with steep and jagged 70m cliffs. This is literally the End of the World with fantastic views over the ocean & the Sein Island.
- A few mins away from the Pointe du Raz, we recommend the stunning and quieter Pointe du Van. The Coastal Path along the steep cliffs lead you to a beautiful chapel (Sainte They), past an exposed fisherman cove and to a wild surfer beach.
- 5min walk from the ferry to the Sein Island. 8 miles away from the Pointe du Raz, this tiny island is barely more than a line in the ocean 1 mile long and only 6m above the water at its highest point. 250 people live there full time . A great day out.
- Audierne is a working fishing harbour with amazing seafood. It is famous in France for its seabass caught by line in the treacherous waters. Local fishermen also catch plenty of crabs, lobsters and langoustines which you can buy at the Saturday market.
- A great place for watersports. The sea is at the end of the garden and the reef is ideal for fishing, spear fishing, catching spider crabs. The sailing school on the main beach is a 5min walk, the surfing & kayaking school a short drive away.
- The Lervily Point and the Ile aux Vaches just outside the house are 2 of the best surfing/windsurfing spots in Brittany. On big winter swells, waves reach 6m and all the best congregate for epic sessions. You can watch the show straight from the lounge!

Introducing
Jean-Yves Huitric
Jean-Yves, whose roots are in Brittany, worked in the City of London for 20 years. Then the places he had long had his eye on came onto the market, and he returned to Audierne in 2015. He lives with his young family nearby, ready with advice whenever you need it.
We had the most beautiful week staying at the Sémaphore! The house was so well equipped, decorated and furnished so tastefully with beautiful bedding and fluffy towels! To sit either in the window looking out on a cloudy day or outside in the sunshine in total peace with just the water and boats to watch and listen to was the relaxation we needed. We will definitely be booking again.
