The Experience

Madame is a collector of intriguing finds (including the Peugeot 203 and Volkswagen T2). Her two family-friendly garden-facing bedrooms make good use of compact space: one has the double bed on the mezzanine floor and children sleep below; the other, pretty in pale colours, sleeps three. The disabled access room is larger, also simply furnished, with a baldequin bed. You breakfast at one big table next to the kitchen. Do arrange a meal in the sheltered outdoor dining area, too; it’s fun and hung with agricultural bits and bobs, and the food will be good. All in a quiet village, in open country 18km south of medieval Troyes.

Reviews

Sue

Delightful, quirky accommodation with a comfortable bed with a clean, pleasant bathroom. We had a delicious dinner and breakfast. Christine is a delightful host and it's all incredibly good value.

Arrived late, welcomed with open arms, wonderful home cooked quiche and chocolate cake with Apple compot! Yum yum!!, room was lovely, and breakfast home made and yummy too, great garden, and collection of unusual items adorned the house and garden.

Linda

This is a gem of a place. It is delightfully furnished, the bedrooms are a treat and the garden is a relaxed haven. Mme Degois served a fabulous table d'hôte with many local delicacies and wines. It is about 20 mins to Troyes which is a medieval wonder of a town. All in all, I cannot recommend this highly enough.

William

What a great place, Christine is the best hostest. Chambre Indigo was bright, clean, and the bathroom was amazing. Lots of hot water. Supper was a delight, and breakfast, with home made bread and yoghurts was fantastic .Loved it so much we stopped on the way back on 19th August. Can't wait for next next year. One of the best ever, Thank you.

Local points of interest from Christine Degois

  • Troyes is a medieval jewel located only 1h30 south of Paris. Discover many typical half-timbered houses in quiet, charming streets, 10 churches and the gothic cathedral with 1500m² of stained glass and 16th-century sculptures.
  • Troyes is known for its art and museums, fine food, wine growing (in the heart of the “champagne route”), and for its many factory outlets, making it a shopper’s heaven: you can find a lot of brand names at low prices.
  • If you're a true nature lover, you are near the forests of Othe and Chaource (local cider and cheese, marked trails) and only 30 minutes from the Orient forest lake for sailing and bathing.
  • Other places of interest: the Nigoland Park offers a fun day for all the family; Colombey's two churches; the Charles de Gaul Memorial; Essoyes and the painter Renoir's house.
  • You are just 40 minutes from Dienville lake for jet skiing and power-boating.
  • Only 50 minutes from Burgundy.
