The Experience

Three dreamy suites in this hilltop house, all with incredible views over the rugged Corsican countryside and out to sea. Each has its own private deck with an outdoor kitchen plus lots of lounging furniture, and there are sunbeds scattered around a gorgeous infinity pool (complete with “beach”).

Sink into super-comfy double beds (all the rooms have space for one or two other guests on a sofa or sofa bed). En suite bathrooms have polished concrete floors, antique stone sinks and large walk-in showers. Colours are muted and the decor is simple and tasteful – the striking paintings were the work of owner Hervé’s artist father in the 70s.

While you can cook, you won’t want to miss the amazing breakfasts, delivered to your room or served by the pool. Everything is local and super-fresh – cheese and yogurts from the family’s goats, homemade jams, pastries and cakes, eggs from the farm next door, fresh fruit and excellent coffee.

Reviews

I fell in love with Corsica and this place showcases the best of the island, beautiful yet laid-back interiors and an incredibly untamed coastline. It would be heavenly to come here for a week and let the setting work its magic on you.

Location

The neighbourhood

You can wander down to the gorgeous beach at Carataggio (20 mins) or hike up to the high point of the peninsula. The nearest restaurant is Casa Cantina down the hill (five-min walk) or hop in the car to La Costa Marina (eight mins) for sea views and relaxed dining. For a barefoot lunch, sink your feet into the sand at La Dune (12 mins). Head to Bonifaccio (40 mins) to explore the historic citadel.

Local points of interest from Hervé Bougon

  • Sensory walk through Corsican nature to Pruna, an ancient hilltop hamlet where my ancestors once watched over the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio.
  • Hike from the property to Carrataggio Beach of my childhood, where we camped with family and friends, living like Robinson Crusoe in self-sufficiency.
  • A mountain escape to the Ospedale forest, 30 mins away, to enjoy cool swims in the many natural river pools of the island's southern region.
  • A cultural escape to Bonifacio's historic clifftop city, facing Sardinia, for the De Renava contemporary art biennale just 30 mins away.
  • Two unique dining spots: AMA Palavese, where the chef fuses local produce with Japanese flair, and La Cabane du Pêcheur in Santa Manza for fresh seafood.
  • Savor homemade breakfasts with local farm products, our pastries, cakes, family-made goat's cheese and honey from our own hives.

Introducing

Hervé Bougon

Hervé inherited the 1970s property, and he and Leonardo have spent a great deal of time and effort renovating the place to such a high standard with lots of art and reclaimed materials. Since Hervé used to work as a chef in Paris, you can be assured that the breakfast is excellent.
