The Experience

With views across to the Massif des Albères, this generous house is full of quirky character. Huge murals and bold artwork on the walls, punchy prints, vintage tiles and a bright and breezy yellow kitchen are all marks of owner Caroline’s original style.

Not just one but two chef’s kitchens, each kitted with condiments, cookware and even cookbooks, are perfect for making meals together or splitting the prep. Six comfortable bedrooms share three bathrooms (one with a double shower) and all have air con.

Indoor and outdoor spaces flow easily to take advantage of the Mediterranean weather and those views, and the pretty pool is just big enough for some languid lengths. The garden, planted with cypress, palm and olive trees by the owner’s grandfather, offers welcome shade throughout the day. Plenty of places to gather as a group and quiet corners to slip away with a good book and a glass of local wine.

Reviews

We felt welcome from the moment we walked into Villa Casaroom. The sunken lounge with its open kitchen gave a cosseting feel. Views towards Tour Madeloc, downstairs the brightly coloured Toile du Soleil dining and sitting area, inviting out to the garden and pool area, made us feel pampered. It was a really thoughtful touch to be able to set the temperature of each room individually.

Villa Casaroom was the perfect place to stay for our extended family celebrations. The accommodation is all 5 star. The main living area, with indoor and outdoor seating, an amazing kitchen space and outdoor bbq area is phenomenally perfect. The pool was larger than the photos suggested and the surrounding pool area was lovely and very safe for our two year old. The bedroom space provided comfort and private outdoor balconies with spectacular views over the hills. Collioure is lovely, full of independent shops, bars and restaurants. Denis' food recommendations were spot on. Thank you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐

Location

The neighbourhood

On a south-facing hillside in Collioure’s newer quarter, the house is a short walk downhill to the old town where you’ll find plenty of bars and restaurants – Caroline and Denis will share their recommendations with you. Matisse was once a visitor to the area – take a Fauvism art tour in the village. Visit the iconic church-cum-lighthouse, Notre-Dame-des-Anges, overlooking the town beach.

Local points of interest from Caroline & Denis Roumagnac Sematiski

  • Panoramic sea view? Take a walk along the coastal path just opposite the villa for a short or long hike dotted with creeks. Nice any time of the year, with or without a pet. Sunrise, sunset... Always amazing!
  • For chefs and food lovers - visit the market twice a week to find fresh, local produce. Don't leave without trying oysters with a glass of white wine before you head back. Prepare a meal to enjoy in good company at the villa.
  • Go for a walk in the village, through the narrow streets, around the bay, from one beach to another. An array of bars and stunning views await you with an aperitif or stay to dine for the evening.
  • Fancy some sport? Go to the charming tennis club, with its courts in the shade of the oaks. On Saint Vincent beach, chat to the sailing club instructors about paddling and sailing activities. An abundance of beautiful surroundings to practice!
  • Discover the royal castle, the church, the museums, the forts, the chapels and understand why Matisse, Derrain, Picasso, Mucha, Dali... fell in love with this region. Cross the border for a day trip to Cadaqués or Figueres.
  • With our beloved wine merchant, taste and discover the grape varieties and wine growers. Stroll through the vineyards that have shaped these hills of the Côte Vermeille.

Introducing

Caroline & Denis Roumagnac Sematiski

The villa was built for Caroline's grandparents and she has a great affection for the house and local area. When they passed it down to her, she gave the villa a dramatic makeover, filling it with bold colours and giving the place a new lease of life. Caroline and Denis live nearby with their rescue dog, Skipper, and they greet you with a bottle of wine.
