The Experience
Downstairs is spacious and light with huge blown-up paintings of famous landscapes or portraits and a suite of high-ceilinged rooms designed for entertaining: music room, drawing room, dining room (big enough to seat 14) and kitchen. Five bedrooms, three on the first floor and two up in the eaves, have comfy seating, long views, gorgeous bed linen and splashes of colour. All have swish, gleaming bathrooms with marble floors.
The huge island and oven make this an incredible place for those who adore to cook and there’s room for plenty of merry helpers, loads of prepping space and cupboards full of all you need to spice things up. Local treats like wine, honey or jam will be waiting for you. Book a massage, have a tennis lesson or a bit of fitness coaching if that’s what takes your fancy.
Spill out to eat on the terrace under the pleached lime trees, enjoy a bit of ping-pong, sprawl on the smooth lawns or take a bottle of wine and a picnic down to the meadow – families will feel very much at home and on holiday here.

Location
The neighbourhood
Find bikes to borrow and maps of routes for cycling and walking at the house. Walk five minutes to the small town of Esvres for your morning baguettes and pastries, or for dinner – there are good restaurants. From here you can catch the train to Tours for lovely medieval squares, antique dealers, museums, shops and cafés. Explore many châteaux – Villandry, Chenonceau and Azay-le-Rideau are 30 mins.
Local points of interest from Patricia
- Esvres is a small, charming and dynamic village: the Saturday morning market allows you to buy excellent local produce and enjoy a drink in front of the “Art à table” store, where Charles will be able to satisfy all your culinary desires.
- At “La Boucherie du Coin you'll be tempted by rillettes from Esvres, all served with good advice and Thomas' smile.
- For a bistro experience, dare to try “O Bistrot Quai” next to the station, where you can enjoy succulent beef ribs.
- For a gastronomic experience, Gaetan Evrard will seduce you at his restaurant “l'Evidence” in the pretty neighboring village of Montbazon.
- The estate is bordered by a hiking trail that takes you on foot or by bike to many of the Châteaux of the Loire Valley. For shorter hikes, the Indre and Echandon loops, accessible from the foot of the Bollée wind turbine, offer a variety of circuits.
- For thrill-seekers, flying in a hot-air balloon over the châteaux of the Loire Valley is a once-in-a-lifetime experience ...

If I wanted to call the Loire Valley home for a week with a group of family or friends I could not think of a better place than here. I love the huge kitchen, the ultra comfortable bedrooms and all the space, inside and out.
