The
Experience

This elegant country house sings in a subtle harmony of traditional charm and contemporary chic under Martine’s modern touch. Sponged walls, creamy beams and eye-catching fabrics breathe new life into rooms with old tiled floors and stone fireplaces, and the bedrooms on the second floor are great, with views over the huge garden. Windows are flung open to let in the light and the stresses of city living are forgotten in cheerful, easy conversations with your hostess, who joins guests for candlelit dinners. Bookcases, baby grand, buffet breakfasts at individual tables, a pool for the energetic… delightful.

Reviews

Le Clos de Ligre is a very pretty house set in a very large courtyard with numerous other attractive buildings. Martine is very welcoming and took trouble to cater for the gluten-free dietary requirements of two of my family, which was much appreciated. Our rooms on the top floor were huge, airy and light, with attractive views over the garden and beyond. The baths are situated in the bedrooms themselves. A kettle is provided which is a nice touch. Beds were very comfortable. The swimming pool area is well supplied with pool loungers and Martine thoughtfully provides pool towels. Thank you!

Dawn, Poole

We stayed here for 2 nights in September. Martine is a wonderful host, very attentive and presented us with lovely dinners (with wine) and breakfast. The house is delightful and in such a great location. Really quiet, only heard the owls during the night. Lovely spacious bedroom and bathroom. Didn't get to use the swimming pool as the weather had a turned a bit wet.

Alexandra, Lymington

Delightful old manor farm, we had rooms in the old house which were big and spacious although some may prefer their bath in a separate room! Martine is a lovely host and was very kind to my elderly father, and, although she speaks English, was very happy to allow me to practise my French with her. The dinner was nicely prepared and included produce from her garden. All in all a very peaceful and relaxing stay.

Carol

We were totally overcome by the beauty and tranquillity of this beautiful property! Martine is a wonderful host and did everything to create a special, romantic and enjoyable ambience. We will return regularly! Thank you Martine!
