Les Gites de Sonnay

Set in pastoral countryside, next to the ancient winery of the Château de Sonnay, are two pristine outbuildings newly restored. Your host greets you warmly, shows you the ropes, and gives you a bottle of elegant estate wine.

Owner Frederic has created a trio of open spaces splendidly crafted from oak, stone and steel. Under neighbouring roofs, a family party would be happily reunited. Kitchens are designed for joyous get-togethers, bedrooms are peaceful, and the park is a safe place for children to play.

Set off for the glorious châteaux. Or borrow the bikes and follow the valley, from wine village Cravant-les-Côteaux (1km) to lovely old Chinon – stroll its medieval streets, explore the hilltop castle, and lunch deliciously at Au Chapeau Rouge. Then paddle downstream to Montsoreau.
