The Experience

Light-filled and elegant, the two buildings sit in a pretty valley with the gentle river flowing nearby. Sensitively restored with the help of Pierres d’Histoire (a French organisation dedicated to the preservation of historic buildings) with artisanal fabrics and gentle Farrow & Ball tones throughout, the houses can be rented separately or together – the Miller’s House has four double bedrooms, the 12th-century Mill has three and all can be split into twins.

Bedrooms are calm retreats, with en suite bathrooms, spacious baths or showers, artisanal tiles and pretty furnishings. The kitchens, part of big, sociable living spaces in both houses, are generous and fully equipped with everything you need to cook for a gathering.

Outside, wander the gardens, row along the river or relax in the spa’s sauna and jacuzzi. Bikes are available to explore the valley, and there’s even a cross-trainer for workouts.

Reviews

The Mill and the Miller's House have been beautifully restored, are superbly comfortable and sit in a very pretty valley through which flows a lovely river. For those who need to really take a break in nature this is a perfect bolthole, with only the noise of the water flowing under the mill and the odd lowing cow to disturb the peace.
