The Experience

The feel is of a lovely country home, filled with antiques and original architecture but there are plenty of contemporary comforts too: WiFi (even down at the pool), electric bike chargers, coffee machines and USB connectors beside your bed. All the bedrooms are a good size and have views over the park and the wood. Summer and winter embroidered robes await and a bag with towels for the swimming pool and sauna – you’re definitely here to relax.

Breakfast is served in the elegant sitting room: local hams, cheeses, smoked salmon and eggs, baguettes and pastries with three sorts of jam, honey from Cheverny and tomatoes from the garden in season. Cycle routes abound, you can walk down a quiet road to Cour-Cheverny to tour its imposing Château or have a long lunch with Loire wine.

Return for a read and a doze by the long pool on a comfy lounger, wake for a refreshing plunge, have a sundowner while you ponder supper.

Reviews

We had such a lovely time staying at this spectacular retreat. A beautiful home centrally located in the Loire with the most attentive hosts, Patrick and Anne who could not have been more warm and welcoming. A very special place where our relaxation and enjoyment was limited only by the short time available for our trip to the Loire. Never mind, we will return! The swimming pool was a delightful treat and the breakfasts sublime. À bientot…

Julian and Joanna, London

These adorable Belgian owners have created a very special B&B in a 16th house only a few minutes drive from some of the Loire valley's most famous chateaux. The bedrooms are huge, supremely comfortable and gorgeous and the breakfast will keep you going all day.

Location

The neighbourhood

The surrounding land is flat (lazy cyclists ahoy!) and arable, peppered by pretty hamlets with cobblestones, unspoilt architecture, galleries, shops, cafés. Only ten minutes away are three of the most famous châteaux in France - Cheverny, Chambord and Blois. The wines are excellent, golfers can play on an architect-designed course, further afield are Chaumont, Amboise, Chenonceau and Valençay.

Introducing

Anne & Patrick Laubach

Anne and Patrick are Belgian and they lived in Bavaria for ten years before settling in France. They love travelling, architecture and design, food and wine, and looking after you with much aplomb. They know the area well and all the local winemakers who have tastings in their cellars so do ask before you set out. They've got maps for cyclists too.
