The Experience

The house was built in 1803 as a winery for the production of the local deep red Cahors wines and you are surrounded by vineyards, plum orchards and lots of green space so the feel is incredibly peaceful. The walled gardens around the pool have cascading lavender and rosemary beds, and there are sunbathing terraces for a quiet read under a parasol, the cooling pool to slip into, a bar/wine cooler offering local Cahors wines, beers and soft drinks on an honesty system.

Three bedrooms sit in the main house: Malbec with fabulous views down the valley, Merlot and Muscat overlooking the vineyards and gardens; all have terraces, smart bathrooms, desks and Nespresso coffee machines. Breakfast includes seasonal fruits from the garden, freshly baked baguettes, homemade jams, cheeses and charcuterie.

Walk or cycle 2km into splendid, lively Montcuq for numerous cafés, galleries, restaurants, bars and a colourful Sunday market.

Reviews

Great newly refurbished B&B rooms, each with individual character – an ideal base within walking distance of the medieval town of Montcuq and the Quercy Blanc region where there are surprises around every corner.

Sarah, Wateringbury

This accommodation is outstanding and set in beautiful surroundings. The location is perfect for visiting other villages and only a 20 minute walk into Montcuq where there are plenty of restaurants. Esther and Marcel are the perfect hosts and put lots of effort into providing great breakfasts and personal touches and have a great skill of being there when needed whilst unobtrusive. We would highly recommend this property. Sarah & Nick

Andrew, London

We really enjoyed our stay with Esther and Marcel at their wonderful B&B near Montcuq. It was an expectational property with amazing views over the village. The room was comfortable, well furnished and equipped, and the pool, communal and garden were well kept and definitely appreciated in the heat! Breakfast was delicious and freshly made with local produce. Esther and Marcel were excellent hosts with plenty of good recommendations in the local area, including assisting with restaurant bookings. We thoroughly recommend staying at Domain Lapeze and will definitely be back in the future!

David, Sydney

Set on a hillside overlooking a distant valley and surrounded by green fields, this B &B is a superb place from which to explore the beautiful Lot Valley. The hosts, Marcel and Esther, are exceptionally friendly and helpful, the breakfast is excellent, with home-made items. The charming village of Montcuq, which has several restaurants, is ten minutes away. The rooms are quiet and well appointed. Very highly recommended.

David, Melbourne

We loved this stunning accommodation 2.5km out of the historic town of Montcuq. What you first experience is the warm hospitality of dutch owners Esther and Marcel who go out of their way to make your stay perfect. The sweeping view from the divine pool toward Montcuq is beautiful. The town’s medieval old tower clearly visible. This is the place to come to totally relax. Our meals there were really delicious and healthy. 10/10.

Introducing

Esther & Marcel

Esther and Marcel came from a hectic background in fashion and IT in the Netherlands. They bought the Domaine in 2022 and knew instantly it was the right place for them. Renovations to the property are ongoing and keep them busy but they relish the change of pace and life in rural France. They speak English, French, Dutch and German and are very helpful and friendly.
