The Experience

The gates glide open to a gravelled sweep and a tree’d lawn, with an old stone cider press to the side. Elegant, compassionate Isabelle looks after house, garden, guests – and rescue cats and horses – with warmth and charm; Philippe, a friendly GP, fills the game larder. The barn houses two bedrooms plus a delightful family suite under the rafters (up a steep private stair) and a cosy guest sitting room with a bar. Rooms have pretty striped wallpapers, seagrass floors and elegant Louis XV-style chairs, quirky objets on shelves and in crannies, beds dressed with white heirloom spreads. Vivacious, bustling Caen is an easy drive.

Reviews

David, Hayling Island

5 of us really enjoyed our 2 nights stay and were very well looked after by Isabelle. A lovely farm. A good base for visiting Calvados.

Wendy

A wonderful welcome with tea and the most beautiful pear flan. Lovely room in a tranquil setting. Breakfast was a veritable feast. Isabelle is a charming host and nothing is too much trouble. Added to all this, it is extremely good value for money too! We will be back next time we travel to France

Isabelle provided the perfect end to our stay in France this year! The farmhouse is calm and quiet and we were welcomed with home made cake and tea on a golden Autumn afternoon. The rooms are fresh, spacious and extremely comfortable and we enjoyed an excellent breakfast at an unsociable hour (the early ferry from Caen) - way beyond the duty of most hosts! We will definitely return and enjoy a corner of France most of us are racing through to reach other regions. I recommend anyone to stay here but longer than one night - savour the gentle charm of Normandy and enjoy this lovely farmhouse.

Amy

Absolutely fabulous. Our host welcomed us cheerily with a coffee and cake reception. Isabelle could not have been more helpful - she recommended a restaurant locally and reserved us a table, our room was clean, well-equipped and spacious with a lovely view. It was perfect for our daughter (aged 1) as it had a kitchenette, so we were able to heat some food for her. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious - local produce and fresh coffee, fruit, pastries, juice, jams. A high chair was provided for the baby. We were sent off with a bottle of local cider. We shall recommend! Thank you!

Andrew

A lovely stone farmhouse with attached converted stable. Isabelle provided a warm reception, good conversation and a brilliant breakfast. A genuine interest in the guest and one of the best experiences in 40 years of travelling to France!
