The Experience

This farmhouse, in a quaint corner of Haute-Normandie, is surrounded by a green paradise of orchards and summer and winter vegetable patches. Organic produce and simple living are the buzzwords in the Languignons’ Norman bolthole, and you breakfast on wholemeal bread and crusty baguette, jams and fruit – all homemade or grown, and accompanied by local honey, farm yogurt and heart-shaped Neufchâtel cheese.

Relax in the grassy gardens, cross over the stream and duck under the long tendrils of the white willow and hazel to explore the footpaths at the end of the garden.

Three airy bedrooms overlook a central courtyard – larger families can take over the whole place, but it’s private enough for a romantic long weekend of gentle pedalling through the villages of the thickly forested valley.

Reviews

Ria, London

Wow - what a wonderful place and with such generous and friendly hosts. Margaux goes above and beyond to make you feel at home and connected with the environment. Rio the dog is so friendly and joyful - it is a pleasure to see him enjoy his home (and play frisbee!) This is a beautiful place to relax and recharge. Breakfast and dinner were so so tasty, I hope to go back!

Jody and Lynn, London

We stayed five nights at La Levrière and had the most wonderful experience. From the first moment we were greeted by our host we knew we had met a kindred spirit. Margaux has a warm, kind way of interacting with guests. Our rooms exceeded our hopes with plenty of space for four people, enough beds for six, to be honest, and two full baths. Breakfast was well-balanced with fruit, the freshest eggs from the farm soft-boiled to perfection, and an assortment of homemade and local baked goods, jams, honey, and yogurt as well! The gardens and grounds were peaceful - a truly exceptional getaway.

Havva, Brighton

We found a little peaceful spot to end our stay in France. Margaux was a warm, friendly, knowledgeable host with a real love for Normandy. Margaux and her husband share their love for the area by showcasing local produce and sharing their local knowledge of some of their favourite places; their enthusiasm brims over and Margaux went the extra mile to find out the most up to date information so we could have the best experience. The room was lovely- simple comfort, and the breakfast was a treat, as you’d expect from people who pay attention to detail and care about what they do. We’ll be back.

Edward, London

We had a lovely stay at La Lévrière. After a long day of travelling, we received a warm welcome from Margaux and enjoyed relaxing in the garden. Our dinner was fantastic, with everything grown in the garden and we loved our characterful room. We just wish we could have stayed for longer.

Pauline, Hellidon, Daventry

My son, Christopher, and I have just returned home following a splendid stay with Margeaux, her husband and their lovely friendly dog, Rio. Margeaux and her husband's home is situated in a delightful, beautifully conserved Normandy village where peace and quiet reign supreme. Our accommodation was most comfortable in a period property set in an idyllic setting of garden, fields and with a river flowing through. Margeaux's breakfasts were absolutely delicious and plentiful. Margeaux is absolutely charming and helpful in every way. A lovely, relaxing, visit and we hope to return next year.

Location

The neighbourhood

Traffic noise is at a minimum in St-Denis-Le-Ferment: aside from the rumble of a passing tractor, your soundtrack is likely to be the babbling of the brook at the bottom of the garden, or the whinny of a horse. La Lévrière is set on a quiet road just outside the centre of the village, with walking trails spooling out from the doorstep across bordering pastures and dense woodland.

Local points of interest from Margaux Languignon

  • Giverny, with Claude Monet's house and garden, the magnificent villages of Lyons la Foret and Gerberoy, the majestic fortress Château Gaillard… All these must-sees of the Vexin Norman are 20-35 min away from our guesthouse. Don't leave without seeing them.
  • Do you love castles steeped in history, beautiful abbeys, pretty villages and magnificent gardens? So do we! La Roche Guyon, Vascoeuil, Gisors, Mortemer, Saint Germer de Fly… We'll be happy to recommend our favourite places in our beautiful region.
  • We're just an hour from Paris and Rouen, two beautiful cities, and 1.5 hours from the sea at Dieppe and the magnificent Varengeville beach. Set off on a lovely day trip and then come home to relax and recharge your batteries.
  • Hikers will love the bucolic walks in the Norman countryside. One of them starts from our house. We are also one step away from the The London-Paris avenue Verte, bikers are welcome! Nature lovers will enjoy our 2 acre garden crossed by our lovely river.
  • At La Levriere, we love good food: tasty, home-made and organic. Our kitchen garden provides us with delicious vegetables that you can enjoy at our table d'hôtes, our hens provide us with organic eggs and our orchard, with good fruits in the right season.
  • We have an adorable dog who loves to play with our guests and friendly horses. We are fortunate to have wild animals living in the garden: ducks, herons, deers, and many birds. Don't forget your binoculars.

Introducing

Margaux Languignon

Margaux & David run La Lévrière and live in one of the on-site cottages, so they’re on hand to dole out advice on the gastronomy of Bazincourt or the footpaths of Lyons la Forêt. The green-fingered couple are proud advocates of organic cuisine and have great plans for their fruit orchards and vegetable gardens – absolutely everything organic, of course.
