The Experience
There’s much space indoors, with two sitting rooms (lots of books, squishy sofas), a charming dining room and a roomy, well-equipped kitchen. You’ll find all the basics waiting for you: oils and vinegars, spices and suchlike, so you can get cooking the moment you arrive if you choose. Owner Oriane has a good eye for decoration and lots of lovely artwork, and the furniture is a happy mix of antique and contemporary, giving a stylish feel that is also homely.
There’s a ground-floor bedroom and bathroom with a separate loo, then two bedrooms upstairs with a shower and another separate loo. All have white walls, pretty tiles and fabrics, good views over lawns, meadow and trees – cows graze happily in their verdant fields.
Eat al fresco even if it’s raining – the incredible outside eating space in the old barn is covered. Set off on some superb walks from the door – the local forest has some memorable trees; explore some superb markets.

Location
The neighbourhood
Walks from the door are through glorious scenery. Mauves-sur-Huisne (4km) has a small food shop and a good restaurant, Un Été dans le Perche. Bellême (10km) has shops and a weekly market on Thursdays, while Mortagne-au-Perche (8km) has a market on Saturdays. Many of the nearby villages have artistic events. You're 2 hours 15 by car from Paris.
Local points of interest from Oriane de Vallée
- Bellême Market - Every Saturday, Bellême bursts alive: fresh cider, golden honey, antique treasures, and buttery brioches. Wander stalls, people-watch, and taste the region in one vibrant square. Gastro-Bistro "PAYSAGES" Organic Bred St HILAIRE.
- Mortagne-au-Perche - Cobbled lanes, Renaissance houses, and the best black pudding in France. Sip coffee under lime trees, explore noble courtyards, and feel history in every stone archway. Birsto Lunch "BAR DU THEATRE".
- Rémalard Greenway - Cycle or stroll the Voie Verte, an old railway reborn as a trail. Pass orchards, sleepy farms, herons by ponds - stop for cider or a picnic in the rolling countryside. CAE DE LA GARE nice bistrot.
- La Perrière Village - Artists, antique shops, and tearooms line this hilltop village. Wander cobbled streets, peek into studios, and admire sweeping views across the Perche countryside. MAISON d'HORBÉ Bistrot.
- Manoir de Courboyer - A 15th-century manor at the heart of the Perche Park. Climb its spiral stairs, see exhibits on horses and forests, then wander meadows and trails outside.
- Hidden Chapels & Forests - Winding lanes lead to half-forgotten chapels and chestnut forests. The joy of the Perche is in surprise - discover what you weren’t looking for.
