The Experience
This elegant 19th-century building stands on a hilltop surrounded by trees, with nothing but birdsong to disturb the peace. Inside, it’s simple and smart: crisp bedding, earthy colours, brand-new bathrooms and bucolic views from every window.
Sleep deeply in comfy rooms, all en suite and air conditioned, and wake to a delicious spread of fresh fruit, pastries, granola, farm yogurts and homemade jam. On warm evenings, ask for a picnic-style ‘planche’ dinner on the terrace, or wander off for a sauna and swim. There’s a pétanque court for a gentle game as the sun sets.
It may feel gloriously remote, but you’re only 15 minutes from ancient Poitiers. It’s an ideal spot for special gatherings, with family or friends, and especially popular for weddings thanks to a charming little chapel right next door.

Location
The neighbourhood
The nearest restaurant is Mesa, French/Brazilian cuisine, in Croutelle (seven-min drive). Head to Poitiers (15 mins) for Roman roots, hilltop views and history. Explore nearby châteaux, or make a day of it in the Loire (one hour). Futuroscope is close for family fun (30 mins), and wine lovers should try a tasting at Ampelidae in Jaunay-Marigny (35 mins). Haut-Poitou is under the radar, but seriously good.
