The Experience
Named after the magnificent linden trees that grace the courtyard (a delightful spot to sip a chilled glass of wine in the evening) the cottage was converted from an 1800s farmhouse. With its own entrance leading to the pool and plant-filled gardens, it feels wonderfully private.
One person can get busy in the compact kitchen cooking a Provencal feast while the rest of you chat around the dining table or relax in the comfy lounge. You can DIY breakfast or join the B&B guests for a continental spread. A three-course supper is served once a week, but Malaucène is just 2km away for a choice of restaurants – L’Atelier de Ferme is one of many recommended. Hire bikes if you’d rather pedal than drive.
Upstairs, two neat bedrooms overlook the courtyard. Both are dressed in good linens and share a bright yellow 1970s-style bathroom with a tub and shower. As the sun sets, sit out on your semi-private terrace and gaze across fields of lavender.

Location
The neighbourhood
There's a restaurant in the village and Malaucène market is hosted every Wednesday - great for local, seasonal produce to cook at home. The town also has two spas. Bike or hike from the door to Mont Ventoux, a 1,909-metre-high mountain known as the 'Giant of Provence' and part of the Tour de France route. Vaison-la-Romaine (13km) has a pretty medieval centre and epic Roman remains to explore.
Local points of interest from Isabelle
- The Dentelles de Montmirail massif is renowned for climbing, hiking, and its exceptional wines. Amateur and expert climbers alike take pleasure in the challenge of its steep rock faces while also enjoying the stunning panorama.
- The iconic Mont Ventoux offers breathtaking panoramic views of Provence, stretching all the way to the Alps and the Mediterranean on clear days. Known as the "Giant of Provence," it's a popular destination for cyclists and hikers who seek the challenge of its rugged, iconic landscape.
- Le Château du Barroux is a historic fortified 12th-century castle dominating the hilltop of the village of Le Barroux, offering spectacular views over Mont Ventoux and the surrounding Provençal landscape.
- The Toulourenc Gorges are a spectacular natural site located at the foot of Mont Ventoux. They were carved by the Toulourenc River and now lend themselves to river walking, swimming and nature exploration.
- Vaison-la-Romaine is a medieval town near Mont Ventoux. It is famous for its rich Roman heritage as one of the largest archaeological sites in France, with ancient houses, streets, and public buildings.
- The area around Mont Ventoux offers an extensive network of hiking and biking trails that cross forests, vineyards, and mountain landscapes. The trails vary in difficulty, from easy scenic walks to challenging mountain routes.
