The Experience
Climb a narrow winding street from the sleepy village square and you’ll arrive at this 300-year-old house spread over three floors. Two bright suites await, each with en suite shower room, pillowy king-size beds in crisp linens, armchairs and a sofa bed (for a child). There are modern artworks by local artists on the walls and views over terracotta-tiled roofs that are quietly spectacular.
There’s a relaxed communal space with books and games, plus two mini fridges (each with a complimentary bottle of wine), a microwave and a kettle. Up above, guests can enjoy two roof terraces: one at the house and a larger one next door at the owners’ home with umbrellas, sunbeds and a refreshing outdoor shower.
The village itself feels like a secret worth keeping. Close to both Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, its cobbled streets weave between flower-laden houses and offer postcard views around every corner. It’s timeless, quiet and peaceful.

This is a gorgeous bed and breakfast in a beautiful old house in the centre of the old village. The beds were comfortable, breakfast was delicious and the views from the roof terrace are amazing. What made it though was how friendly our hosts Jerome and Jana were. Thank you Sawdays for listing this lovely place. Otherwise we wouldn’t have found it.

Introducing
Jérôme & Jana Trancart
Jana and Jérôme live next door with one of their two daughters, so are on hand with help and advice. She’s an architect who grew up in South Africa but lived for many years in the States; he’s French but spent his working life organising outdoor leadership events in Switzerland. They poured huge amounts of energy into renovating the old property and have an infectious enthusiasm for the area.
A perfect little B&B in a wonderful Provencal hilltop village, made extra special by the charming hosts, Jerome and Yana. A very comfortable suite, great breakfast and fascinating art - what more could you want? Ventabren is a great centre to explore the local area, convenient for Aix-en-Provence and a short drive to Cassis, Les Baux and Cezanne's Mont Saint-Victoire and many more - plenty of ideas from Jerome and Yana. And if you can find out why the local church clock has such an eccentric chime, we'd like to know too.
