The Experience
You’re in the Massif des Maures, one of the most ancient forests of France, so it’s very peaceful. But you can walk in forty minutes or drive in five to La Môle for excellent restaurants and an artisanal boulangerie/patisserie for breakfast croissants and baguettes. Bring them back to the simple garden with its large table on the covered terrace and enjoy uninterrupted views of the sky and forested hillsides and the tinkling of the valley stream beyond – tranquil indeed.
There’s much space inside with a large, open-plan living and dining area, wooden beams, tiled floors and fresh white walls – fling open the French windows and let the outside in. There are four reasonable-sized bedrooms: the master bedroom upstairs, and a standard double, twin and a single with bunks downstairs. The master has an en suite and the others share a downstairs family bathroom and shower room.
This is a gorgeous quiet spot for families with a pool, Weber gas barbecue and pétanque pitch.

Location
The neighbourhood
La Môle has a supermarket for stocking up – the outdoor market is on Sundays in summer – and the walk there through vineyards is very pleasant. Recommended restaurants are Auberge de la Môle and La Maison de Julie. There are walking trails to La Verne reservoir and the Chapel of Sainte Magdeleine. Cogolin is a 20-minute drive for bigger shops and two large markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Local points of interest from George Kealy
- Our home is in a stunningly beautiful valley with views across a turquoise swimming pool to the cork, pine and mimosa forest beyond. Wander down our garden steps to the river to find some shade and you may spot wildlife; perhaps terrapins and tortoises.
- Hike the hillside to the hidden chapel of St Magdeleine and to the viewpoint for a panorama of the valley and the bay of St Tropez. Don't miss the walk to the dam across the river or around the reservoir. The ambitious can follow a trail to the Chartreuse.
- Enjoy freshly made croissants and baguettes from our popular village artisanal bakery. Pop into the Spar for most essentials and more. Next door, the Place de la Mairie holds a Sunday market for local produce. Le Cafe in the corner awaits your company.
- The world famous L'Auberge de la Mole stands out with its bright blue awning next to the church and attracts the rich and famous as well as locals with its typically traditional French 'all you can eat' menu.
- Other restaurants to be enjoyed are Maison Julie, with its pretty garden and varied home cooked menu and Le Bistro Gourmet with its pizzeria and distinctive seasonal menu for all tastes. Still within the commune, Le Magnan demands your patronage too.
- Local historic towns Cogolin, Grimaud and St Tropez all have busy markets, shops and amenities. Alternatively visit Port Grimaud and St Tropez via the ferry from Marine de Cogolin. Beaches are 30 minutes away or less via the picturesque Col de Canadel.

This is the perfect location for a relaxing family holiday with easy access to Saint Tropez as well as the many amazing beaches near to Le Lavandou and Bormes Les Mimosa. The house and gardens are beautiful, the pool is so tempting and it’s a real treat to visit. Make sure to go for lunch or dinner at the Auberge de la Môle. If you’re planning a trip to ST be prepared for traffic and maybe consider taking the ferry from Cogolin, it’s only about a 20 minute drive. Our favourite beach is attached to Ch Leoube, it’s stunningly beautiful with a very hip and trendy beach bar or restaurant.
