The Experience

As you come in through the garden the inimitable scent of the sunny dry south envelopes you: lavender, resiny pine, aromatic herbs, it’s magical. The low-slung house stands discreetly in its leafy setting of Mediterranean trees, flowering shrubs and plants – but lift your eyes to the massive bar of the Luberon range beyond.

There’s a beautiful pool to one side, comfy sun loungers on shaded decking and chairs to carry to other secluded spots – or sink into a wicker easy chair on the wide terrace with a glass of chilled Provençal rosé and some spicy local olives.

Come evening dine under the stars with the lights of hilltop villages in the distance. Inside is Rosie’s pride and joy, her “kitchen for real cooks”, where you will find everything you need. The big dining/sitting room has books to borrow and a guest paperback library. The sitting room sofas are deeply comfortable, bedrooms and bathrooms are simple and peaceful.

Reviews

Lovely, peaceful spot with a fantastic pool and pretty garden. The house is comfortable with good bed linen and a super kitchen so you can cook like you would at home - but with fresh Provençal ingredients!

Victoria, Canterbury

We had a delightful week at La Voix des Cedres. A beautiful and peaceful location with so much to do near by. Brilliant bakers a pleasant 8-10 walk away in the village as well as a butcher and grocer. We loved the terrace for drinks, the BBQ for self catering and the pool for an afternoons relaxing after a busy morning sightseeing. Rosie and Carlo were efficient, helpful and charming. Thank you!

Tim, Aalter, Belgium

We had a wonderful stay. It is a beautiful and quiet location and a very well equipped house. It is a very nice area for walking and cycling. We have climbed the Mont Ventoux from here, this is also possible for the less trained cyclist, because bicycle rental of electric bicycles is 4 km away Thank you for the nice stay

Joy, Marlborough

Six years after our last stay, this third visit reminded us why Rosie's house is so special. She and Carlo could not have been more hospitable. The lovely garden and pool are ideal for soaking up the Provencal sunshine and then cooling off, and the terrace is the perfect spot for breakfast, drinks or a barbecue with views of the Luberon. The baker, butcher and grocer are a short walk and the local markets an easy drive. We will be back!

John, Brighton

A lovely comfortable home with beautiful gardens, great pool and a superbly equipped kitchen, within easy walk of the shops and an excellent restaurant in a lovely quiet village. Also a good pizzeria/restaurant within a very short stroll. Rosie and Carlo are delightful hosts for whom nothing is too much trouble and respond instantly to any queries.

Location

The neighbourhood

It's 200m to the village for a good butcher, boulangerie and épicerie. Two restaurants are within walking distance and a Corsican one, about 2 kms away in fields below the village. L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Cavaillon are 15 minutes by car, the many villages of the Luberon are close - four within a 20-minute drive. You're surrounded by great wine domains for tasting and tours and the walking and cycling are superb. Find markets for local produce.

Local points of interest from Rosie Jackson

  • Unsung Cabrières is good to look at and quiet to live in with all the shops and services you could want within walking distance. We have an excellent baker and grocer and two village restaurants, one less than 100m from our house.
  • If you like walking bring comfy shoes. Walking trails begin right on our doorstep and we can provide walking maps. Walk along canal towpaths, explore medieval hilltop villages, and stroll through shady woods and vineyards.
  • A haven for cyclists. Our nearby country roads and hills provide endless challenges, not to mention infamous Mt Ventoux where the Tour de France offers one of it's toughest challenges. Enjoy the new 60km+ paved bike trail along the nearby Luberon valley
  • Daily markets overflow with local produce and to compliment this shopping experience we have a large range of Provencal cook books. Shop, cook and enjoy all in the comfort of your home enhanced by our large gas BBQ.
  • Lavender scents the air from mid June to late July and not only in our garden. Many nearby fields are within walking or driving distance. In the heart of lavender country fields are at their best until early August. Rosie offers lavender tours!
  • Lots of activities nearby for all ages - for children: tree top adventure sites, canoeing, horseriding. For adults outdoor concerts, museums, Roman ruins, wine tasting . The list is endless. We have a comprehensive House Book with ideas to inspire you.
