The Experience
It’s a delightfully peaceful and leafy setting and your room is spacious so you won’t feel cramped – you’re also not overlooked, either by the owners or self-catering guests at the other end of the building. Plan glorious walks or outings with a good coffee from the Nespresso machine, or recover from your latest adventures – the interior of the room is very pleasing.
Breakfast is served on your elegant covered patio (or in the room if it’s chilly) where you can recline on deck chairs afterwards: enjoy just-baked pastries and bread, along with seasonal fruit and freshly-squeezed orange juice, with eggs and cheese if you desire. It’s a pleasant, unhurried start to your day.
Wander up to the pool – an idyllic setting in the pretty garden with far-reaching Luberon views and a smooth lawn for relaxing. Pop wine in your own fridge and enjoy a tipple on your patio while the sun goes down, then head out to dinner in Oppède-le-Vieux.

Location
The neighbourhood
Walking and cycling routes are abundant and there's a super paved cycle trail which runs along the valley for 60km, surrounded by lavender fields in early summer. Oppède-le-Vieux is 1km, an uphill walk through gardens, and is atmospheric and charming with cobbled streets, a church and castle plus some good restaurants. Head to the market at Coustellet, or visit some beautiful villages, play golf, buy antiques.
Local points of interest from Claire Hamchin
- Oppède-le-Vieux is a perched village with medieval ruins and overgrown cobblestone paths. A climb to the 13th-century Notre-Dame d’Alidon collegiate church at the very top rewards you with a silent, breathtaking panorama over the Luberon plains.
- Gordes is a dramatic stack of honey-coloured stone houses clinging to the side of the Vaucluse plateau. Its labyrinth of narrow calades (stone streets) leads you past hidden courtyards to a majestic Renaissance castle and world-class views of the valley.
- Ménerbes - walled village which exudes a quiet, sophisticated charm that has long inspired famous artists and writers alike.
- Roussillon is a must-see with its vibrant colours, famous for its magnificent ochre cliffs and houses painted in every warm shade of orange, pink, and deep red.
- Abbaye de Sénanque - This 12th-century Cistercian abbey is a marvel of Romanesque architecture, nestled peacefully at the bottom of a narrow, verdant valley near Gordes.

Introducing
Claire Hamchin
Claire and Roland, both French, live in the house nearby. They were working and living in Aix where they fell in love with the southern part of their country. Not finding a suitable property near Aix, they came across this beautiful gem in the Luberon. They very much enjoy hosting guests and have furnished both the B&B room and the self-catering suites with colourful finds from their travels. Guests return again and again for the sheer beauty of the place and its surroundings.
