The Experience
Stroll to butcher, baker, grocer, two restaurants: lovely village life. Return to a leafy back garden, a mulberry for shade, and peace in the hum of cicadas. The honey-stone house, once a farmhouse, now extended, is in perfect keeping with the village. All is on one level except for a sitting area on the gallery, it is characterful, roomy and has five French windows so you can drift in and out. Two lead to the patio from the living room – bright, beamy, homely, with its squishy sofa and open fire – and one leads from the kitchen, the hub of the house and astonishingly well-equipped (the owner even leaves a file of local recipes to try). Bedrooms are private and comfortably furnished (one brand new), with polished wood floors, Thai wall hangings and classic French flourishes. The master room has a ceiling fan and bathrooms are the business: walk-in showers, heaps of towels. Books, CDs, DVDs, honey, olives, fruits, fougasse, wine… these are the extras. There’s more: a charming couple to greet you, antiques at L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, walks in all directions, and a delicious pool at the front.

We had an amazing stay at the end of June. The photos do not do this justice. It is a lovely calm house in a fantastic location. Close enough to everything but far enough away to be very quiet. Rosie and Carlo were the perfect hosts. So attentive to any of your questions. We are already planning our next trip.

We stayed at Maison d’Artiste for a week in October. Delightful place – clearly someone’s home rather than a letting. Decor lovely and all the amenities you need – hot showers, excellent kitchen, comfortable beds, log fire in Autumn. Near so many gorgeous Provencal villages and restaurants. And vineyards – car packed with wine to take home! We used maps in the gite to craft several long and beautiful walks, plundered brilliant markets to cook delicious meals. Carlo so kind and helpful - Rosie alas away being a photographer! Fab holiday and we shall be back.

We had a wonderful month long stay at Maison d'Artiste. It really was a home away from home, set in beautiful surroundings. There is a wonderful balance of being able to explore the region and also being able to enjoy the comforts of the property. Rosie and Carlo were also so helpful as well as other members of the village. We would highly recommend and look forward to re-visiting.

Maison d'Artiste is wonderfully situated with easy access to many beautiful Provencal villages and places of interest. We were very aware of being at the heart of the Luberon. The house is very comfortable with an exceptionally well equipped kitchen and three good sized bedrooms. Table tennis and pool toys were an added extra that were much enjoyed. All the details for making our holiday a very special one had been thought through. Nothing was too much for Rosie and Carlo, who even came out to see us on Carlo's birthday.
